We got here about 5 PM. There was only one spot taken. It’s a nice quiet, beautiful place and it says it’s open year round. Nice and quiet spot right off the highway a little road noise, but it’s really nice and quiet and easy to get to perfect for tent, camping car, camping and small RVs.

Plenty of room for every kind of rig including tents most of which are set up right by the river. I can't say as I blame them. The river provides such a peaceful rhythmic sound.
There are vault toilets two in fact. Today it's been super windy but hasn't it been windy everywhere. this year?

The camping area is large and flat. Leveling should not be an issue. It wasn't full and it was a Saturday so getting a last minute site should not be an issue. There were two pit style toilets for the area. There is no privacy between sites as the area is very open.
Any size rig can camp in this area.
The only downside was we had unusable 1 bar of Verizon 4G.

This was a great last minute stop. Even though it was decently full, we easily found a level spot and it was very quiet at night. There's a great little stream nearby that our 2yr old loved. AT&T was barely 1 bar and basically useless. I think if you drove up to the front near the road, you'd get decent service. Would stay longer next ... more

This is a beautiful open space with cleared areas spread all around. During the week, people kept their space and were pretty respectful with generator hours. Once the weekend hit, it gets PACKED! No hookups but there is a vault toilet, although we never used it. Our kids loved playing in the creek and we tubed down to the lake, which is just a short walk from the campground. There are tons of trails scattered around, and the CO trail is right across the creek. The wind comes whipping down the valley, and since it is mostly dirt, it can get dusty really quick, but the mountain views are worth a little dust! As far as service goes, we had pretty poor service where we parked on AT&T and Verizon. Even with a booster, we never got above 3 down, but that was generally at night and during the week when the crowds were gone. When I needed service for work, I could drive to the opposite end of the lake (about 1 mile) and had around 8 down with Verizon, good enough for video calls. This is big rig friendly and easy access as long as there is an open space. We will definitely be back!

The views are fantastic and it's right on the Colorado trail, the creek is pretty and the reservoir is good for boats and picnics. There are spaces in the trees and out in the open.

We’ve stayed here twice. The first time we arrived late on a Friday night and it was full of rigs, tent campers, and a few large groups of trailers. A few people ran their generators all night long, but the morning was peaceful and the vault toilets were mostly clean. The second stay was this last Saturday night and we were one of the 8 or so people there. We just followed the gravel road around and picked a quiet spot near the back. Perfect for a quick overnight stop on our adventure but with the Resevoir nearby this would be a great place to come back with friends to do some fishing from the kayaks. Lovely views all around.
Campsite had lots of little trash like cigarette butts and bottle caps all around.

We pulled in there to a field that had people camped wherever. We found a little spot that had a fire ring someone had made with rocks and full of cigarette butts. We were maybe 20 feet away from other campers. That included kids on little motorcycles racing around. It was noisy and after 10 minutes, I decided to not stay there despite it being free. In the 10 minutes we were there, we got eaten alive by mosquitoes. But that's what you get with a lake right there.
It would be good if you had a trailer and were okay with so many people right next to you. And its free. So I guess that's a plus?
