We really enjoyed our stay and especially liked the miles of trails through the forests. We were able to boost the cell signal from 2 to 4 bars and streamed movies with no problem.

Stayed in late January en route to Florida and we liked it so much we came back in early February on the way back.
Excellent state park with wonderful trails. Just breathtaking beauty with the live oaks and marshes .
Super easy access to Publix and the little Skidaway Village.
Nice easy bike ride to the UGA extension campus for great walks on the nature trails and views of the waterways.
What everyone else said about ticks in winter was correct! Just be prepared to be vigilant with bug spray and even with bug spray be ready to pick them off yourselves and your pets. Annoying, but still worth 5 stars.
Easy drive into Savannah. Don’t recommend biking the causeway as there are no bike lanes and it’s pretty narrow.
If you want to paddle you can put in along the inter coastal on the causeway to the island or at the north end of the island there is a tiny little beach on the marsh / river
We both work remotely and the cell service WITH cell booster was 3 bars reliably
About 10-12 Mbps download speeds
3-5 Mbps upload speeds
Don’t plan to host the world’s biggest zoom conference or do tons and tons of Facebook livestreams. If you do regular video calls you may need to turn off your video.

It was a FHU premium site. The roads into and through the park were easy to negotiate with our 35’ fiver. Staff was friendly and helpful. There were lots of empty sites. There is a beautiful visitor center/store/interpretive center with a lovely sitting area behind it. It’s maybe 30 minutes to Tybee Island and even closer to Savannah. We look forward to going back.

Some have full hooks and others are water and electric. They are interesting spots and some were very confusing to get in, including ours. We found out that they were just about to start renovations of spots 1-10 and they would then be full hook ups. Lots of tress and LOTS of squirrels! we will definitely be back.

What an amazing campground. Sites are very spaced out (can't stand when they are on top of one another) and are pull thrus. Bathrooms are immaculate. Can't beat the overall shade. Our site was small (would not accommodate a very long RV) and not in one of the super shady spots - and also was not one that drained all that great. We got a last minute cancellation after a tropical storm blew through so we were happy anyway. But it didn't matter with not a bunch of shade because we weren't there during the heat of the day anyway. What our site did offer was a great night sky view and tons of fiddler crabs doing their thing! The nearby trails (take the Sandpiper trail) just off the visitor center were awesome. We went about an hour before dusk both nights and it was gorgeous. Quiet, serene, with good birding and wildlife viewing. Only 20 min or so from Savannah. I've camped all over the US and this is by far one of the best.

Our family lives in South Carolina but always enjoy Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources campgrounds, Skidaway Island Campground is no different. I booked this campground as part of the route we were taking to south Florida. When you first pull into the campground the large oak trees and hanging moss welcome you into the campground before even reaching the ranger station. The newly built Welcoming Center is very nice that has a souvenir for any person looking for something to bring home. There is also a small exhibit room that houses a replica skeleton of the Giant Sloth that inhabited the region, plus a couple aquariums with living local reptile species. Our kids really enjoyed the exhibit and it gave them just enough history of what animals lived (and is still living) in the habitat, peaking their interest into adventuring the trails of the campground.
When originally booking this campground, I requested site #6. I received a phone call a couple months prior letting me know they needed to move us to a different campsite (#22) due to construction. The ranger assured me that I would be happy with the new site. Once we arrived, the site was a very large site that was a pull through, it was semi-private except for the neighbor in site #24 which we had a direct line of sight to their front porch. Even with that, the site was large enough to not feel crowded. The electric and water hook-ups are placed where they are needed. The dump station (if needed) is easy to navigate and has its own hose to use (just wear gloves, cause I saw some interesting habits from other campers). The construction in the first loop was clean, quite as they could be, and ended before 5 every day. It appears they are in the final stages of what looks like adding more full hook-ups to the campground.
The bath houses are top notch and clean, of course there were small insects but nothing out of the ordinary in the south during summer while in the woods! I particularly liked the separate showers/bathrooms from each other. Each stall and bathroom seemed well stocked and sanitary with no foul odors or grime.
There are some tight turns and low trees to be careful when navigating the campground, but I saw large Class As and Fifth Wheels navigate without any issues. There are roots from the trees pushing up the asphalt making natural speed bumps. Just take it slow (like we all should anyways) and the bumps won’t create any problems.
The kids loved the campground as there are many flat roads to ride bikes. The playground appears to be new or newly built. All three kids (4, 10, and 12) spent hours biking and playing on the playground. The trails are easy to navigate and well-marked for an easy hike through the marsh. Just make sure to bring bug spray since it’s a marsh and shouldn’t be a surprise that bugs that bite flourish in this environment.
The only “complaint” I have is the price seems a little high for a state owned park without full hook-ups on the site we were at and that doesn’t have a major attraction like a beach front, water front or any type of natural attraction. Also, I thought it was odd to have to pay for a separate parking pass even though I paid for the campsite and did not require any other parking space than the campsite we paid for to camp.
Over all review is that it was a great campground, with a lot of things to do nearby. We would stay again if we are near that area, but not willing to make a trip specifically for the campground.

The site was level and the power and water was fine. the surface is dirt and roots, it was very muddy when it rained. There was plenty of room for the screen room as mosquitos were an issue, big surprise right?
The shower house looked new and was in great shape, plenty of hot water and good pressure, they weren't cleaned daily for some reason and was frequently out of TP.
The guard shack at the front of the park is only manned a few hours out of the day, campground check in isnt very well marked and is the new visitors center. The visitor center staff was rude and had a bad attitude when we checked in, not sure what her problem was but it wasnt my fault I just got here.
The park is a fairly long drive from savannah and more than an hour from tybee.
The wife really enjoyed the owls bickering right at dusk. they carried on for an hour or two and quieted down.

I really cannot express how helpful and great the staff are here!! Big rigs beware of some roads and proximity to trees. You wont fit on every site just based on length. I echo the previous positives of the area and all there is to see and do in Savannah.
