Lovely park close to Savannah and all there is to offer in the area. Facilities a little dated. Atmosphere of the park was amazing. Kayaking and hiking were beautiful.

Possibly one of the most beautiful state parks we’ve stayed at! Beautiful drive into the park on a road canopied by Spanish moss covered oak trees. Some of the campground’s inner roads are narrow and bumpy due to tree roots but not enough to cause serious issues. Trails throughout the park for walking and biking. Abundant wildlife. Fuel and groceries five minutes away but the park seems like it’s far removed from any hustle and bustle. Convenient to downtown Savannah. Friendly volunteers and staff. We would gladly stay here again!

Spacious sites well distanced from others covered with large live oak trees. Some have full hookups. Clean modern restrooms with powerful hot water showers and attached laundries. Good hiking available.

Stayed here for a week - getting into the park was wonderful with large canopy trees and Spanish moss overhangs. Mostly shaded sites with the sun peaking out here and there. The roads around the park are narrow and two-way which can make for some interesting negotiations, but many of the sites are pull-thru to provide relief. The tree roots from the older trees are definitely having their way with the narrow roads but we saw plenty of bigger rigs make it thru - just take your time. We were W/E site 80 which was level with 2-30A plugs and a single 20A . Sites in the entire CG appear spacious with a bath house nearby. There's a wonderful set of bird feeders behind the CG office with seating and tables to enjoy a warmer winter day. Hiking/biking trails start in and around the campground- mostly flat and due to the recents rains, some sections had large puddles with lots of mud. AT&T service allowed us to stream shows and hold video calls; TMobile was hit or miss. The bathhouse in our section was clean with hit water and good pressure. The laundry room had 1 washer and 2 dryers with space/connections for another washer.

The sites at Skidaway Island are nestled into a wooded area with trees that overhang the road on arrival. Check-in is at the main visitor's building. You pull forward into a u-shaped parking area and go inside the building to get your site number. We had to pay an additional $5 for in/out fees to the state park as it wasn't included in our online reservation.
Our site was #14. It was a parallel to the road type site that was an easy pull in/out for our 40' fifth wheel. We felt like we had our own back yard in this spot and the trees were close enough together we could put up our hammock.
The roads that are interior to the park are heavily upheaved by tree roots and the single lane, curvy road didn't seem very ideal for our size of rig. In fact there was one location where a branch hung down a ways over the road. We actually got the tape measure out and measured it from the road's edge and it measured 12'11". We are 13'6" to the top of the a.c. units. This gave us some pause as to making it through the campground. However, the way the roads curve, we had more than a foot of clearance so it wasn't an issue.
Some of the interior roads also had tight curves, so to get out the campground, we scouted it out first and determined that the best way to get out from site #14 was to continue looping to the right until we hit the main campground road that leads to the visitor's center. We side brushed a few leaves, but it wasn't a problem.
However, if we had to select a site again, I would rather have selected the pull-thru sites just next to the dump station. It doesn't give you the backyard feel of the sites around #14, but the roads were more navigable here. These sites are meant for big rigs. and the turns out of them are completely do-able for big rigs.
We had electric and water at our site and used the dump station on the way out.
We were there a few days before Christmas and most of the trees were still green. There was a considerable muddy spot before entering our site, but a tropical storm had come through the day before. It wasn't an issue and we were told that tree limbs falling were minimal.
Starlink was unusable due to the trees. We had 1 bar on the Verizon phones and 3 bars with the cell antenna (28/10). AT&T was 4 bars with the cell antenna (24/2).
With taxes and fees, our site average came out to $67/night.

We really enjoyed our stay at Skidaway. Highly recommend spot #26! 70' pull thru spot, on the end, with shade and full hookups! It's rare to get sewer hookups at a state park. Plenty of space between camp sites. Really nice big yard areas if you have dogs. We didn't use the restrooms or showers because we had a sewer hookup. But I went in there and didn't see anything wrong with them. The only downfall is one of our dogs ended up with about 10 ticks on him. The other two had none, and I'm not sure what the difference was??? The trails were great for walking the dogs. There are about 8 miles in trails. All very easy to navigate unless there has been a lot of rain. It's very quiet in at the campground. Which is surprising because immediately outside of the state park it is very populated. There is a Publix grocery store, 4 banks and a couple of churches about a 1/4 mile away. You can get to downtown Savannah in about 20 minutes. The cabins and yurts at the park look really new and nice. The gift shop is really nice. They have a little snake and turtle exhibit in the visitor center for the kids to see, as well as a skeleton of a prehistoric giant land sloth which apparently roamed the area in prehistoric times. There is a playground, but not a ton for kids to do. There were a couple of kids there, but mostly adults. Which made it nice for us (empty nesters). We did see a big deer come through the camp area as well as the ever present raccoons. Would definitely return. Would just make sure to load the dogs up with a new Nexgard (flea and tick med) prior to staying.

Perfect little campsite, if you're going back and forth to the tourist parts of Savannah, budget a bit of extra time to go back and forth. Dark and quiet at night. Bring your leveling gear and the sites will serve you perfectly. Make sure you check out the gift shop on your way out.

Yes, there is plenty of shade. But in the summer it is HUMID!!! Not recommended for a summer stay. I have not actually stayed here, but I've lived in Georgia all my life and in Savannah for several years. Expect gnats and mosquitos also.
