We enjoyed the trails in the park and just walking around the campground. Really nice.

With so many reviews it seems redundant to give this park another 5-Star rating, but I can't help myself. I knew nothing of this park other than it being near Savannah and having some good reviews, but I was still impressed by how well this park works. I'm all about going to new places and seeing new sites, but this is one I'd probably want to return to given the opportunity. And all this said without having spent much time in Savannah proper. Between exploring the low country, the trails at Priests Landing, Wormsloe, Fort Polaski, Tybee Island, and the wonderful trails in the park itself, there was plenty to do. Of course, it helped that the weather was perfect and aside from a few mosquitoes, not much of the wildlife tried to eat me or the dog/cat (can't say that much in Florida). Hard to believe there is an entire golf-cart retirement community next door with a small shopping center. Most sites are the size of a basketball court & totally level. The quadrant layout of the park pretty much means that the campsites themselves have very little through traffic. The bathhouse next to site 82 was large, modern, with loads of steamy hot water. A crew of volunteers was out daily to keep the campground totally picked up. There were always trail maps & doggy bags to be had. The staff in the main office were cheerful and helpful, happy to accept my Amazon packages. Kinda hate to leave. Between my T-Mobile phone (booster gave me 4 bars) and AT&T Spark for WiFi, getting a good connection with decent speed was pretty easy the entire week - I was able to stream shows with few issues most of the time. BBQ - Sandfly on Ferguson is great and pretty close

Beautiful site! Roads are narrow in spots so keep that in mind when navigating “campsite” roads. Nice clean bathhouses and convenience centers. Camp hosts are on top of things, as soon as a site is empty they are there getting it ready for the next occupant. Would definitely stay here again. Convenient to Savannah and Tybee Island.

We chose a pull through loop site facing out to a wooded area and it would have been perfect for us if it would have included a sewer hookup. Most of the sites on the outside of the loop do not have sewer. Some of the pull through sites on the inner rows have sewer hookups. Hiking is good, with a couple miles of options. We saw a couple deer on our first walk through the campground, in the wooded area by cabin C. The outdoor fitness center was unique. Bathhouse #1 needs renovation and I would stay near another bathhouse if we stayed here again. Skidaway Island seems to have pretty high-end housing options and there is only one road in, so it is quiet. There is a Publix, BP, pharmacy, realtor, (and about 10 financial institutions?) nearby.

This campground is the nicest we’ve stayed at so far. The sites are so big, well laid out, and well maintained. We could not get a site with sewer so we used the bathhouse every day. It was clean and relatively new so I wasn’t grossed out by anything! Laundry room was adequate and relatively clean. The staff were great and friendly. We did the Marsh Hike and Night Hike with the ranger and both were informative.
The village is close by so groceries and other services are convenient, including a salon.
WIFI is only available at the office so I didn’t use it. Cellular was adequate but not great, but I was able to work every day.
Savannah is so close and it’s a liveable city. We were very impressed with all the shopping downtown, not just restaurants. And there are many other things to do in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again.
I won’t add photos since there are so many posted on here already.

Beautiful location in the Savannah suburbs with tidal marsh on one side and a McMansion community on the other. Campground itself is secluded and quiet. Obviously the staff takes pride in the place.
Sites are large, wooded, and well maintained. We had deer wander through camp.
Bathhouses are pretty much new. Every time I went in, I was impressed with the cleanliness.
Campground secret: I believe the staff are involved in a Jurassic Park program to bring back the giant ground sloths that used to roam the area. A source in the next stall at the bathhouse says there are actually several breeding pairs on the property and that they are Federally Protected. When one slothed through camp and started slowly going through my cooler, some guys in a golf cart pulled up and made my wife stop poking it with a spatula.
Be sure to get the full story from the ladies at the office before you check in.

This is a beautiful State Park as other reviewers have stated. The sites are mostly very large and well spaced. They are somewhat open, however, as you walk past you can see everyone's set ups, but there is vegetation between sites. The rigs here are very large, too. We camp in a 15' trailer and there were only two others the same size and only a few tents. Perhaps there is a separate section for tents, but we didn't see one. The trails around the camping area are lovely and we enjoyed the many birds that serenaded at dawn during our stay in mid-April. There are also a lot of biting gnats and some black flies in mid-April. The bathrooms were clean enough, and the showers are free. Our site #47 had a fence separating us from the dump. It provided enough screening and the site is large enough for us not to mind, although it did get a little busy one morning. This site is also very dry as it's just slightly higher than the sites opposite us which are lower and back up onto vegetation, and we noticed they were pretty wet after a day of rain. Staff and volunteers were friendly. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

There are several trails within the park and you are only about 20 minutes from downtown Savannah.

Yes, there is plenty of shade. But in the summer it is HUMID!!! Not recommended for a summer stay. I have not actually stayed here, but I've lived in Georgia all my life and in Savannah for several years. Expect gnats and mosquitos also.
