Being near Savannah this is the perfect park to stay at while seeing the sites. The site was packed sand, but level and required no blocks. The roads are a bit narrow, but can be navigated easily if you pay attention. We had a nice pull through with plenty of room. We did not use the bath house that was nearby, but I did peek in and it was older but very clean. There was a small laundry room attached to the bath house with a couple of washers and dryers. Our stay was in June, so that meant humidity and a few bugs but not overbearing. One of the best things about the park was the staff, an absolute great bunch of folks. Everyone we talked to was cheerful and helpful. There is a discount for seniors (62+ I think) but you must ask for it at check in, not available on the reservation site. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

I would camp here again , I just expected more based on reviews.

We asked a camp host for help to our site, and he brought us in the wrong direction. Then poof he was gone. We had to go back through all the tight turns to find a place to turn around. There are lots of trees with very low hanging branches which we missed by inches. Roots have created very bumpy spots in the interior blacktop roads. Our site was somewhat level and sandy which was messy. The site is not well defined – just a large sandy area near utilities which were W/E only. The straight in pull thru sites with full hookups are the easiest to get in and out of as far as tree dodging and are the nicest sites. Despite all the trees and decent spacing, there is no privacy. No satellite coverage and no cable (anymore) but we did get digital over the air channels. Verizon was 4g 1-3 bars depending on where the phone was located. There is no WII FI. Busy during the day with lots of kids riding bikes and lots of campfires. Bug spray is a must if you plan on being outside. There are trails but we didn’t try any of them due to the bug issue. It is nicely quiet at night. It is about a 25-30 minute drive to Savannah depending on traffic. We would return again if we could get a full hook up site.

This SP is so hyped up I expected it to be our favorite. We enjoyed it but the tight, bumpy roads & interior campsites staring at your neighbors were not our fave. The hikes were enjoyable.

The bathrooms/showers are a bit outdated, but it is a state park, so that's fine by me. We will most certainly stay here the next time we visit Savannah!

We enjoyed the trails in the park and just walking around the campground. Really nice.

With so many reviews it seems redundant to give this park another 5-Star rating, but I can't help myself. I knew nothing of this park other than it being near Savannah and having some good reviews, but I was still impressed by how well this park works. I'm all about going to new places and seeing new sites, but this is one I'd probably want to return to given the opportunity. And all this said without having spent much time in Savannah proper. Between exploring the low country, the trails at Priests Landing, Wormsloe, Fort Polaski, Tybee Island, and the wonderful trails in the park itself, there was plenty to do. Of course, it helped that the weather was perfect and aside from a few mosquitoes, not much of the wildlife tried to eat me or the dog/cat (can't say that much in Florida). Hard to believe there is an entire golf-cart retirement community next door with a small shopping center. Most sites are the size of a basketball court & totally level. The quadrant layout of the park pretty much means that the campsites themselves have very little through traffic. The bathhouse next to site 82 was large, modern, with loads of steamy hot water. A crew of volunteers was out daily to keep the campground totally picked up. There were always trail maps & doggy bags to be had. The staff in the main office were cheerful and helpful, happy to accept my Amazon packages. Kinda hate to leave. Between my T-Mobile phone (booster gave me 4 bars) and AT&T Spark for WiFi, getting a good connection with decent speed was pretty easy the entire week - I was able to stream shows with few issues most of the time. BBQ - Sandfly on Ferguson is great and pretty close

Beautiful site! Roads are narrow in spots so keep that in mind when navigating “campsite” roads. Nice clean bathhouses and convenience centers. Camp hosts are on top of things, as soon as a site is empty they are there getting it ready for the next occupant. Would definitely stay here again. Convenient to Savannah and Tybee Island.

Yes, there is plenty of shade. But in the summer it is HUMID!!! Not recommended for a summer stay. I have not actually stayed here, but I've lived in Georgia all my life and in Savannah for several years. Expect gnats and mosquitos also.
