Either buy online at the CPW website or go to the CPW Monte Vista office. I would not recommend the Mosca Pit Stop, the said we needed daily passes, so for two nights, 2 people it cost us $40. I did call CPW for clarification & they said the SWA Annual Pass is all you need.

Nice sites near the dunes, electric in most. Sites available for any size rig, easy access. SWA pass or Colorado hunting or fishing license required. No quiet times, got to listen to lots of loud music all night.

Big disappointment that there was no water in the lake and hasn’t been for 3 years now :( The cheapest nightly stay is to get an SWA license which is $10. Daily and yearly licenses are more. We purchased ours at the Sinclair station nearby. Trying to buy online or over the phone was torture. Very limited Verizon service but that’s ok. It was nice to have electric but bring plenty of water. Easy to get to Sand Dunes from there. If there were empty spots on Memorial Day week end it’s pretty safe to assume there are always spots available. It can also get very windy there! If there was water in the lake it would have been at least 4 stars.

Wasn’t a huge deal for us though. Neighbor said that the entire valley was out. Not so sure about that since the towns around us had power. If you want to try it, bring a generator or have solar and hope for sun. We got 2-3” of heavy wet snow one night. Gotta love Colorado in the Spring
28’ Airstream
Has a dump station but not level. Had to raise the passenger side 4” to dump. 6” would have been better.
No water at all
CO fishing license (or equivalent) required for everyone over 16 or 18. Sorry, can’t remember. They run around $40

It was so scary. This was well worth it and very close to the park.

*** you have to buy an annual hunting and fishing park pass** luckily we did this upon entry, each person over 18 has to buy a pass. it’s $32 for the year. We have been traveling for a month and this was by and large our absolute favorite site. Free electric and free dump station. NO WATER! But incredible views.

Sites were far apart. Could have stayed much longer! Have to buy a SWA permit to stay at the campground, $10 a night or $10.95 for the year for non-residents. What a bargain! No water in the park but does have garbage and a dumb station.

Not so good: No water in the park. I came with plenty so I didn't care, but for some it could be important.
Just a note, the description says there's showers and laundry, but they're permanently closed due to no water.
I use a T-Mobile home internet router to work and had a solid 4 bars all the time. I don't really stream much so can't say much there, but my tv antenna picked up about 6 or 6 channels and that was plenty.
Tip: The sun is STRONG mid day so take a site where most of your windows are facing morning sun which doesn't last as long as the afternoon sun. It'll also give you the best views of the mountains.
