People commenting that over 65 do not need a permit … that is no longer true : Colorado State Wildlife Area Pass annual: $36.08* 1 day: $9 Youth (ages 16-17) annual: $10.07 Senior (ages 65 and older) annual: $10.07 Low-income annual: $10.07 (Fees include a $1.50 Wildlife Education Fund surcharge) *Plus a fee of $10.40 for a Colorado Wildlife Habitat Stamp COLORADO Fishing or Hunting License, or a State Wildlife Pass, are condidered the permits you need to stay here. CPW provides free electrical hook-ups at some sites and will continue to do so until costs become prohibitive. No water available, no toilets, but most campsites are level and many have good view of the Great Sand Dunes about 5 miles due east of the National Park. I buy online an annual out of state Colorado fishing license, which gives me access to all CO state wildlife areas. NOTE: BEWARE! NoSeeUm’s are ABUNDANT in this area. Their bite will leave you itching for a week!

Yes you do. You can buy one online from the Colorado Division of Parks nd Wildlife website. Go to their online store where you can also buy fishing and hunting licenses. BTW, this year the use permit is the same price for both state residents and out-of -state visitors. But I wouldn't count on that being the case by 2022!

Everyone over the age of 18 will need an SWA Pass or a CO Hunting/Fishing License. They are sold at many Walmart’s, Bass Pros and so on. You can purchase one down the road from San Luis at the Mossca Pit Stop

Only a Colorado fishing license. You can get one in nearby Mosca at the store. Have fun, it's a great place to stay. Just remember to fill your freshwater tank before you go, there is not water there but free electricity and there is a dump station.

If you’re a CO senior, over 65, you don’t need a permit; everyone else does.

We did exactly what AKramer13 suggested: getting one at the Mosca Pit Stop. The host checks permits.
