Stayed Here 8/14 – 8/17/20. The view here is incredible! When we stayed we were camping with another trailer and were able to find a site that could accommodate both of the rigs. The sites are unmarked and dispersed. There are no amenities available. The campground is a few miles from the entrance to the Badlands where there are some amenities available as well as additional recreation. It is also south of the town of Wall where the famous Wall Drug is located. Great view, great location!

Great views, awesome spots and plenty of room for privacy. And not too terribly windy when we were here (late May, 2020). Some words of caution: 1) go slow on the access road coming in as there are some pretty good sized ruts and bumps; 2) Beware of mice - we had six of them which we trapped on our next-to-last night (they must be pretty smart here because in over a year of fulltiming, this is the only location we have had a mouse -- let alone six!! -- in the rig; 3) If you have a big rig, beware of how you will turn around either when you are pulling into your spot or leaving your spot to head out. There are several areas where a u-turn can be made right at your spot, but there are others where you'd have to drive along the rim a pretty good way to find an acceptable turn-around.
Otherwise -- ENJOY, it's fabulous here!!

My first dispersed camping experience. was apprehensive at 1st but after pulling on a sunny day all apprehensiveness went away. Easy to choose a spot and set up. Would go left after passing the electrical towers and pick a place there as there were more campers "going right" and crowding the area.
Very disappointed with campers that had to run their generators almost 24/7 and not respecting other campers.

Not much else to say about this campsite that other reviews haven't already said, but I'll say a few things anyways. Lots of sites and most are fairly level. Access road is fairly short and pretty well-maintained (just a few ruts but most can be avoided). We didn't have any trouble with our big rig.
Cell service is solid for AT&T and Verizon. We had some friendly neighbors that showed us their renovated schoolie which my kiddos loved. The morning walks are amazing because you're right on the rim of some classic Badlands rock formations. Location is great, you're about 2 minutes from the entrance to the park, and only 30-40 minutes from Wall.
One thing really special about this particular campground is the wildlife. If you like waking up with pronghorn out your window, or bison on the horizon, this is the spot for you. Working at my kitchen table while watching them slowly migrate across the field to the various water holes over the course of the day was quite entertaining.
The one downside here is the wind. It's South Dakota. The winds were blowing 20+ mph pretty much all day on some days, and gusting upwards of 30 or 40 mph occasionally. We had a couple days that weren't windy, but they seem to be the exception. It's not anything dangerous, but being camped on a cliffside and having west winds trying to blow you off of said cliffside might be nerve-wracking for some people.

My kids had a delightful time exploring, both the ravines, slides a s the like. Sunrises, sunsets, and night views were amazing.
My kids marveled at tracking satellites with the naked eye and checking out constellations on starwalk without us making it a “class”.
We had great neighbors and visits all week from campers and the wildlife! Bighorn sheep seemed non-plussed by our presence.
I was able to work great with fantastic cell connectivity, and the quiet spaces.
A lot to do in the area after work from middle silos sites, prairie dog ranch, badlands park, wall drug, hiking.
Very easy to find a spot, getting level takes a bit of work. We had plenty of room for our 42 foot fifth wheel.
Oh and great solar absorption!

The weather was a perfect 65 degrees so we were worried we wouldn't find a spot. But we went in from the north entrance road (not the southern gate closer to the national park entrance) and it was less busy. We thought our views were a little better too since we could see all the way down the wall instead of just looking out over. Either way it's gorgeous.
The first night was windy (30mph+) but the next couple nights were more calm. If the forecast shows wind, it would be smart to park facing into the wind if possible.
Cell service (AT&T and Verizon) were great in our location.
Bighorn sheep came by a couple times to visit, but otherwise it was very quiet.
The town of Wall and Wall Drug, of course, is a short, fun drive up the road. The national park is next door with tons of buffalo, sheep and prairie dogs to see. The sunset views from the Pinnacles Overlook right inside the entry gate were incredible.
We thought the short trip over to the Minuteman missile site (the Delta-09, not the visitor center further down the road) was really interesting. But check hours first because there's a gate.
You can get water from a spigot right inside the entry gate but it's not threaded and doesn't have a lot of pressure. So you likely won't be able to fill your RV tanks. Instead you could fill water containers or a water bladder. We heard you can go to the campgrounds in the town of Wall for dump and water if you need it.

The winds were howling at night, my daughter and fiancé didn't get any sleep in the tent, but that seems normal for the area. We SVU camped, because the winds was very noisy. I see why that 98 percent that go here use RV's.
I would head back, but just not with tent campers. Great views as well.
