We arrived at 6pm and lots of good pullout spots left on a Friday of the last weekend of Sturgis.
Wind was not too bad in our camper but it did pick up in the morning. Weather was nice and cooler.
Star gazing was unreal.
The gravel road goes all the way through and back to the hwy for those larger rigs.
Absolutely loved this place. No campfires which was nice and keeps the place looking clean. No bathrooms or garbage but everything is available at the park headquarters and campground just a little ways away.
The Rangers stopped by and invited us to the event that night. Felt so safe yet not overcrowded.
14 day limit.

We have a 43ft. fifth wheel. Free water jug fill can be found just inside the national park a quarter mile down the road. Temperatures were hot in 90s during the day in July but humidity was low and breeze inviting. Temperatures at night were cool in the 50s.

The ground was hard to stake so make sure you have a mallet and heavy duty stakes if you're tenting. BE SURE TO CHECK THE WIND BEFOREHAND!! It was very windy during the night and the morning. Breaking down camp was a struggle. With no wind, place is a wonderful spot.

The half mile road out to the vista points was pretty decent. PLENTY of room for all sizes of rigs. Unforgettable views. High winds come thru regularly so make sure you don’t leave your awning or any chairs out when you’re not using them.

We arrived mid-week in May and it was already pretty crowded, but we found a great cliff-side spot for our trailer and our companions' trailer. We could see bison off in the distance. From our site there was a nice little trail that went down to the bottom of the "wall".

Although it was crowded, that wasn’t a big issue for me. It was very cold and windy. We couldn’t sit outside and we camp in a 6x12 converted cargo trailer with a German Shepherd. The sunset wasn’t anything special, and the sunrise, although pretty, wasn’t particularly sensational. Perhaps being older, I’m just jaded. It just all depends on what you’re looking for.
