Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is just a dazzling desert jewel. It is also an International Biosphere Reserve. The monument exhibits an extraordinary collection of wildlife, birds and plants, including the Saguaro, Ocotillo and it's namesake, the Organ Pipe Cactus rarely found in the United States. The monument is a true desert experience. And with our Senior National Park Pass...only $8.00 per night.
Twin Peaks is a perfectly designed campground that allows everyone here to intertwine with the Sonoran Desert. And to assist you toward embracing your beautiful surroundings, the NPS offers daily interpretive talks at the Kriss EggleVisitor Center, ranger led hikes and tours throughout the Park and evening interpretive programs offered in the campground amphitheater. Our site was a very level pull through, long enough for a 45' pusher. All sites are very nice, but we would recommend only an end site so you have a that un-obstructed desert view.
We experienced some beautiful sunsets and remarkable silhouettes through the moonlit nights. And although we had a little too much moonlight, they say the night skies here offer a true spectacle. Hiking trails and off road jeep trails are quite abundant. You will not lack things to do, see and explore. We don't normally rate a campground 5 stars, but this campground deserves it.

This is a pretty huge campground but it was nearly full the weekend we visited in February 2017. We called in the morning to ask if there would be space for us. It looks and feels new and clean, from the long concrete parking pads to the dump/fill station. Sites have lots of trees, cactus, and shrubs but it is the desert so there isn't much privacy. In many ways it looks and feels more like a commercial RV park (with no hookups) than a public campground. The generator hours are a good compromise... just two hours in the morning and two in the evening gives enough time to recharge batteries without disturbing the silence during the whole day. Although the sites in our area said they're for "up to 40-foot RV" you could easily fit a 45 foot motorhome with tow car in the sites. Sites are sloped downward so we had to put a couple blocks under our front tires to get level. There are a couple of dog-friendly trails near the campground, plus the Alamo Canyon trail (about 7 miles away) is also dog-friendly starting this year. There are lots of ranger programs and we enjoyed the ranger-led hike we attended. Our Verizon had strong signal and fast data. AT&T had strong phone signal but no data. Overall we were very impressed with this National Monument campground!

Wonderful national park campground, no services except flush toilets & showers but they do separate Generator people from non generator, it was not busy so I made the mistake of thinking I could stop in the generator zone, my mistake. The night programs are usually quite special, this year it was early and they had not gotten their act together, both nights talks were weak with equipment failures plaguing both talks. All in all they do a good job the night skies alone are worth the price of admission, good walks and hikes surround the site and the visitor centre is first class.

We stayed in the non generator section which we loved. We didn't like getting yelled at for starting the truck at 7 pm though. Not a ranger, but someone informing us "nongenerators". Overall, everyone was friendly and just happy to be in such an amazing place.
If you're traveling with a dog be sure to carry tweezers. There is a bit of cholla around the campground and it was a bit of a challenge making sure our big dog was safe.
All in all, we can't wait to go back!
Oh, as others have mentioned be sure to have an international plan for your phone. Being so close to ththe border, our phones (att and Verizon) kept trying to connect to a tower in Mexico.

Spectacular camping in the heart of the beautiful Sonoran Desert.
Campground is large and sort of awkwardly set up, but it's easy to get the hang of. All sites are pull through and are marked by the length of RV it can hold. There are three sections: generator, non-generator, and tent.
All the loops are close together so you can still hear the generators in the non-generator section. However, generator hours are short - two hours in the morning and two in the evening - so it was a non-issue.
There are two dump stations with potable water in the campground. There are also plentiful water spigots and bathrooms with solar showers. Everyone popped their hoods at night to keep out packrats, and many put out undercarriage lighting as well.
The Visitor Center is a short hike across the desert. Plentiful programs each day, from night sky watching to bat talks to an interview with border patrol. Free van tours and hiker shuttles also available. Park staff are always readily available.
Be sure to get up for sunrise - the Campground Trail is a nice hike to see it - and climb the Desert View Trail to catch the gorgeous sunsets over Mexico.
Though others talked of blazing fast Verizon 4G that wasn't my experience. I had two bars of moderately fast 4G - enough to work but not enough to video conference.
Top notch camping at Organ Pipe.

Steps from the campsite is good hiking and a short drive takes you to some really nice hikes.
The campground is very clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are fresh and clean. Several offer solar showers.
There are no hookups but a nice dump and water fill station within the campground. Water spigots are also located throughout the park.
Be aware that this is very close to the border and you should be cautious while hiking.
Great park and glad we came.

Note: We camped here in a tent. Not a surprise given all the other reviews, but we've always been really hesitant about giving 5 stars to a campground -- but this one is really fabulous! The sites are well designed, level, spacious and some have canopies for shade. We stayed in the Tent Only loop and got a beautiful, level site with picnic table and grill with a stunning view facing south, complete with natural cacti dividers between us and the next site. The bathrooms are the nicest Ive seen in a long time -- super clean and well maintained and fabulously hot showers powered by solar. The visitor center has a really impressive staff willing to help out with info on hikes, drives and lectures on this part of the Sonoran desert. We did the Ajo Mountain Drive and they gave us a great book outlining the drive and what we'd see, tips on what to bring, and advice for us taking the Prius on the 21 mile unpaved road trail.
Overall, I have no cons for this campground, and wish we could've stayed longer.

I stayed in the generator section but solar ended up being all that I needed. Apparently, others found the same thing because I didn't hear anyone else using their generators either. The plant life in this campground is abundant, providing a beautiful and peaceful setting.

This park offers many great programs throughout the day, including a nighttime star program. One of the best things is that they offer a hiker shuttle to a couple of trailhead do you can leave your vehicle at camp then hike back to camp from the trail head. Looking forward to staying here much longer next year when we have a Senior Pass. 😉

This national park is being rediscovered after years of partial closure, and the park staff are trying to catch up by providing a really excellent experience. Sites are concrete and mostly level, surrounded by natural desert plants. All the sites face south, which puts your entry door facing west, so it can get hot in the afternoon as the sun sets. A sun shade and awning are helpful.
Bathrooms were very clean, the campground water was good, and the campground was generally very well maintained. No hookups but there are showers, fresh water spigots, and gray water dump points, as well as two regular dump stations. Lots of snowbird stay for the 14 day max in the peak winter season.
There is a generator-free section and a tents-only section too. Lots of birds visit the campground and perch or nest in the cactus.
The only negative we experienced was a few visitors with barking dogs. Our neighbors alerted the campground host after a few days of listening to the dogs barking. Since there's a large law enforcement presence here (due to proximity with the border), the dog owners got visited by two armed officers wearing bulletproof vests (although they were very polite).
A National Parks "Senior" or "Access" pass reduces the campsite rate by 50% -- a real bargain.
