We stayed in the first open spot we came to down the well-maintained dirt road: a big circle area across from the new helipad. Someone had made a rock fire pit in the middle and there was plenty of room to drive in and circle around if we’d wanted. We backed our 34’ fifth wheel in over to one side. We had a lot of room and there was still room for at least one more rig in the circle with us. The road continued past the site we were and there were campers in most but not all of them. Definitely easy access and very convenient if visiting Great Sand Dunes NP. Beautiful views.

Great spot! Dirt road was well maintained, quite a few pull offs along the road for camping, most big enough to share. Great phone service so we could work remotely.

We arrived around 6pm. Easy to find. Dirt road well maintained. There were quite a few gnats and some mosquitos. Flowers in the field are beautiful and make for great photos if that’s what you’re into!

Arrived around 5:30 to find a spot and stake a claim, came back from a dune climb around 9:30 and most spots still open or enough space for others to partner up. Awesome spot!

We have camped here several times in late May and early June. Have always found a good spot. Since we are seniors and have the Golden Age pass for National Parks, we use the Great Sand Dunes rv dump and water if needed for free.
We have seen some of the best sunsets, rainbows and storms rolling in ever! Super quiet even though 150 is only a mile away.
Be aware… this place can get WINDY! It can take down a sun canopy in a heartbeat if not careful.
**PLEASE, PLEASE clean up after yourselves and your dog**
We always walk through and pick up micro trash left behind.
This land is a gift to EVERYONE, please leave it better than you found it!

Arrived around 5pm in late May 2024. Picked a spot. Set up. Watched the full moon rise in the east and simultaneously watched the sun set in the west. Quiet and free and close to Great Sand Dunes National Park.

We arrived around 8 pm on a holiday weekend and there’s still plenty of space. Big area so lots of room. Verizon cell service is good, but not enough to use phone as a hotspot. Very dusty but that’s not surprising. Watch out for little cacti where you walk. Amazing sunset view. Definitely recommend.
