It’s on the honor system so you just fill out your info on an envelope and put $15/night in. We found a spot right on the water. Someone was camped nearby but it didn’t feel crowded. We have dogs so they were able to run around and play in the water. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. Would stay here again.

This Camp site is not free, signs at entry to park clearly posted fees $15 per night, $680 penalty. We chose to ignore the pay box and were greeted the next morning by a park ranger asking for our camp receipt. He let us off with a warning and a $10 penalty. It was still a bargain that cost us $25. Live and learn.

Nevada State Park with multiple spots at two different campgrounds and views for days.
Potable Water spigots throughout the area. No sewer but dump with nonpotable washout spigot available between the two campgrounds. No electrical, but generators allowed 0700-2200. Lots of good sun exposure for solar. Chevron gas station when you get off I-80 (about 3m away). About 20m to Lovelock if you need groceries.
Boat ramp. Beach access. And plenty of fishing. A few short trails to stretch your legs on. Showers and bathrooms along with fish cleaning station appear to be seasonal. No trash pick up at upper campground but plenty of trash cans and a dumpster at the lower campground. Most sites have covered picnic table which are fairly new. A few trees. And campfire rings. There were a few sites with bbq set ups.
Memorial Day to Labor Day they say this place gets busy, but winter camping here was perfect. We were one of three campers in entire park first night, then only camper next several nights. Ranger Matt was super friendly, sweet and helpful.
Great getaway or perfect overnight stop along I80 during a long drive.

Stopped as we traveled across Nevada. Stayed below the dam. A bit busy but quiet at night. No cell below the dam but there is in the upper sites on the hill. Free dump with water across the road using the red hose bibs.

We got a quiet spot away from the dam near a boat launch, but few were there so it was so quiet and serene. Only power hookups, but there are water taps in between every 2 sites. The lake was surprisingly clear and refreshing even in July!

Peaceful place to spend a night without the noise from I-80. We did not put our booster antenna up for a one night stop and therefore had no cell or data signal for either Verizon or AT&T. As soon as we crossed the dam in the morning, the signal returned so it's possible with our booster that we might have had some coverage.

Great stopover spot along the dry long expanse of I80 in Northern Nevada. The River campground below the dam was beautiful late September. No sign of flooding as mentioned above. The sage bushes are redolent in the late afternoon sun. There is good access to river for kayaking or swimming at the far end of the campground. Vault toilets. A few sites have water hookups and one site has full hookups including sewer! $14 non residents and $12 residents. No discounts. I had one bar of AT&T which stretched to four with my booster. Great spot for short stay.

Could be nice if you get a good spot. It was flooded in the lower campground loop. Several "On/above the River" sites or you can't see the river. Able to walk to dam to watch the water flow..

We needed an overnight stop between Lake Tahoe and our ongoing journey to Wyoming. As an alternative to the RV parks of Winnemuca or Lovelock, this is a great find. It's just a mile or two off the freeway but with no freeway noise, and serves as a little oasis in an otherwise uninspiring landscape.
The Riverside campground is a better choice than the West side campground, which is mostly just gravel. We found a beautiful spot right by the water which was roomy enough that we didn't have to unhitch. We sat and watch tons of wildlife from our site, seeing deer, coyotes, turkeys and lively jumping fish.
There are a few short trails, and a beach where people were swimming. The campground has showers and restrooms.
Not a lot to keep you occupied here, but perfect for an overnight stopover.
