Absolutely loved camping here. Absolutely spectacular views. Very quiet. Millions of stars. We stayed on a Monday night. It was busy and we got in late, but we went left and were able to find a flat spot a little bit down the road. The road in is pretty rough. We took it slow, but still hit a couple of very bumpy spots. Cell coverage was good with Verizon. We used it for the Cricket hot spot for my daughter's Zoom class in the morning with no problem..

We stayed here two nights September 17th and 18th 2020.
Pulled in at about 10:30 am at the entrance close to the park crossed the green cattle guard.
Went to the right found a level spot on the edge. Rough or not level or not you have to spend the night here.

Considering that it is Sept. 12th, it is much more crowded then I expected. Great views, even the breeze stopped just before night fall and Adel has never seen this many stars. We will definitely stop by here whenever we are in the area.

The views are breath-taking. Camping along a path that overlooks a valley of rocks, dirt and clay formations of the badlands. It is a popular spot but there are so many options for different size vehicles—no one that I saw had trouble finding a spot along the path. You can stay right on the rim side or across the path so not right on the cliff. Make sure you bring gear to level out your vehicle. We loved walking out of the van and looking into the distance. Not much noise at all except some from other campers occasionally and some wildlife. This was by far the coolest view we have had camping in our Van thus far! Loved it.

Before you get to the National Park entrance you'll find the gate and cattle guard for the dispersed camping.
I stayed here for 4 nights in late August. It was always full of all kinds of campers, big rigs to tent campers. Very quiet and peaceful. Even if you decide not to stay right on the rim (can be very hard to level) you can park in the grass and face the canyon view. The area was very clean except the occasional dog business that people don't seem to pickup.
The road in is a bit rough but if you take it slowly you can go in with a tow vehicle. The road is only 1 way, i.e., only one direction on the road at a time because the road is narrow, so you can wait a bit for a string of RVs to enter before you can get out.
Not only beautiful view during the day, sunset and sun rises are outstanding, but it's so dark at night you'll see more stars than you're used to seeing.
Internet was good enough for me to stream TV without a cell booster.
