Loved this place! We first tried Cherry Creek road but the road was too rough. We then came up this road, starting with Bay City campground. That was pretty small and full, so kept driving up the road 5 minutes, past two campgrounds that had fees and came upon this one! So glad we did. Camped Wednesday - Friday and was very quiet - just two other campers around. Nice to be very close to the water and there was a vault toilet. Dirt road up to the several canpgrounds was very easy driving. This site is still pretty close to Durango (~30 min) and Mesa Verde (~30 min to entrance 1 hr 15 to Cliff Palace). Glad we kept looking!

Great camping if you go past all of the 1st few sites. I highly recommend driving past the 1st few sites as these were overcrowded. Very pleasant and pretty but crowded on 07/03. A bit loud but at least everyone quieted down overnight. We camped in a 4WD vehicle but a 2WD vehicle could make it easily. The place was packed and we were lucky to of gotten a spot for our 25ft Motorhome and a pull behind trailer. Good for over night, they did have a bathroom but we used ours. The ranchers showed up early and pulled right up in the small campground and released cattle. We jammed out before they let them go.

Got a great site with a great view. The road down to the site off the main road is a bit rough. Beautiful site though. Would def stay again. Takes longer to drive down to the main road than it does to get to downtown Durango. Also perfect distance to Mesa Verda. Would camp again.
