Two beautiful spots along the creek whispered soft lullabies to us and a fella who somehow managed to drag a 25' trailer, two motorcycles and a van up here. Not that it's a particularly rough drive, I was just impressed at his assortment of gear given he appeared to be a solitary mountain man making a life out of this whole RVing thing.
Another trailer, with two tents--one for dad and one for his boy I guess--and a plethora of water jugs, cooking gear, etc., was parked here, too, though no one ever seemed to come back to it. It looked a bit old but I'd be surprised if it was just abandoned like that, given how keen the campground host was on chatting with us and making the rounds. This place was wonderfully empty otherwise, even though Snowslide and the other two campgrounds just up the road from here were all packed. I suppose that was because this one is across the dirt road from the actual river.
Ample free wood was available given the amount of fir trees that were dead and down, maybe due to some type of beetle, though I can't be sure on that. The small creek was perfect for our little guys, though it came with its share of flies and mosquitos.
Note that the second campground just north of here is really only suitable for vans or tenting, though I can imagine someone getting a small trailer down in there. The campground immediately beyond this one can handle RVs, and there were even some rather large horse trailers camping there.
The campground host said there was a fifth open campground even further up, and then if you're really adventurous, you can get really lost and crazy as the road deteriorates further and further at two previously managed campgrounds and various roadside spots way up the mountain.
Nathan @ Wand'rly would stay here again
