There is a boat ramp area here but you will likely have to go to the Waheap area to unload and load your boat. The rangers will want to inspect your boat on the way out for fear of transplanting muscles. The campground is very sandy and the roads to and from are no exception. Many people got their cars and rigs stuck while I was there. Beautiful views and water access. But there are no reservations accepted and no sites. Grab what you can when you get there. The campground is located in Utah but right along the Arizona boarder. The clocks switch back and forth often as the two states are not on the same time all year long. Overall it is good but you have to know what to expect ahead of time.

Verizon cell service was great ATT was just ok. We didn't stay long enough to need to use the generator but others did and it wasn't too noisy.
Depending on the water level, there is a small cave over in Lone Rock you can boat or kayak over to and get out and stand in it! We will definitely be back!

Cold showers are outdoors and only one was working. Toilets fine. Lone rock juts out of lake - beautiful sight. Bring paddlecrafts.

my only complaint is that I didn’t have any service there, but thats not the campgrounds fault!

We stayed at this campsite on two different occasions. We stayed two nights in the first part of April 2018 directly on the beach. The second time we stayed, we did two nights at the top in the last part of April 2018. When we stayed on the beach the wind was very strong and was blowing sand everywhere. Unfortunately, it did not make for a good experience. The two nights we stayed at top were nice and quiet with little to no wind. The camping area is very easy to find and access. There is a nice paved road that leads to the top sites and a bit further down it takes you to the beginning of the sand. It is a bit of a haul to get down to the water, but we went slow and had no trouble getting there with our 30’ travel trailer. The area has a dump station and potable water on-site, right at the entrance. We did not have any trouble leveling in either spot. However, the internet was not usable for us with AT&T. The scenery was beautiful in both spots. If you need anything, Page, AZ is not far down the road and will have anything you need.

The $7 per night that I paid was 50% off the normal $14 rate, with my senior pass.
I asked the ranger at the entrance kiosk where to go for firm sand, and she told me to keep to the left. I did not want to be near the noise and crowds at the waterfront, so I camped among the bushes. My location is in the site # above. If you want to camp in that area, turn left immediately after the restrooms, and take either of the two roads that point straight towards the rock. The surface of those roads is firm. You will then see many sites to the left among the bushes. The sand there is hard packed, and if you go further to the left, it becomes real desert pavement.
If you want to park at the waterfront, take the wide, gravely road to the left immediately after the bathrooms, and drive along the beach starting from the left end. Avoid the sandy roads heading towards the center or right of the beach. I walked the beach along the waterfront, and found that the sand goes from very firm at the left end and the center, to progressively softer the further to the right you go.
It was very quiet where I camped, just a fair amount of traffic heading to and from the waterfront. That could be avoided by camping further to the left. It was noisy down at the waterfront, with loud people, generators and music. The whole area was very clean.
I had 2 bars of Verizon. Voice was OK, but data was inconsistent, varying randomly between 10 Mbps down and 2 up, to negligible 4G, to 3G, and to nothing at all. There is a spotlessly-clean dump station with potable water at the top of the hill. There is no water faucet at the bathrooms. I bought gas in Page, but I noticed that the gas station just up the road from Lone Rock was only 5 cents more than in town.
I was waiting for the Grand Canyon north rim road to open on May 15, and I would have stayed here another week, but the temperature was heading into the 90s, so I left for Jacob Lake where it was 20 degrees cooler.

The drive down to the beach made us even happier to be here. There was plenty of parking right by the waters' edge, where the sand was easy to drive on. As soon as we had positioned ourselves, we were quickly putting our boat on the water, ready to start our daily explorations into the rocky canyons that used to be mountains before the dam was created.
When not swimming or boating, there are a lot of opportunities to explore the surrounding attractions.
Weather can be unpredictable, especially in November, when we were there. Take reports of snowfall and wind seriously because you do not want to be stranded on the beach due to bad weather.
Television and cell signals were unpredictable too.

This place was absolutely gorgeous until the wind picked up. We did fine in 2wd towing our travel trailer. I could stay here forever if the wind didn’t blow us out. Cut our trip short and only stayed 1 night. Will go back again.

Be careful bringing a large rig to the south edges of the park. Yes the beach is much nicer there but so is the sand. You will get stuck if you go on that side of the camp.
Stay on the north side and you will be fine.
Be aware, between Feb-May expert high winds to ruin your good times. If you are lucky enough to be there with no wind prepared to have a blast.
