We love this spot! It’s huge and has plenty of space to not have close neighbors. Amazing sunrises and sunsets! Beware - do NOT take the road to the RIGHT of the main parking lot. Turn LEFT BEFORE the paved parking lot. We got stuck because we took the wrong road. Thankfully a kind stranger towed us out!!!

This was a lovely spot to stay so we decided to stay two nights. We had a swim in the lake and a nice campfire on the beach. The sand was a bit soft so to be sure we stayed on 2nd row. There were enough 4x4’s to pull you out if you needed help though.

I mean - parking on the beach!? How awesome is THAT!? We were invited by a group that goes every year and we LOVED IT! Was VERY nervous about getting stuck in the sand - and almost did going in. I would recommend scouting out the paths going in as well as your spot on the beach before you attempt. I am told the paths going in can vary throughout the year. We found that the road to the left when you go in stayed fairly packed and was the easiest of them all to get in and out. Once you get down to the beach, stay at higher elevation until you walk it to see where the best path is. Beachfront is the most packed sand and we had no issues parking/setting up or getting out. For us it was the road in and out that was sketchy. We arrived Tuesday before Labor Day and it was lightly busy. By Thursday - beachfront real-estate was scarce and people were parking two to three deep. Lots got stuck everyone stepped in to help and no one stayed stuck. Bring water fun! Kayaks, Canoes, SUP, jet skis, boats, floats, water chairs...just be mindful that the winds pick up VERY quickly and take things sailing down the beach. So anchor everything, always! Watch kids on floats as they can get swept downwind. Water was clear and beach went out for a long way before the drop. Lots of boaters anchored right outside of their rig. Hiked Antelope Canyon. Beach camping and Antelope Canyon were on my bucket list and Lone Rock did not disappoint!
Quiet hours 10p-6am. Confusing costs. We were told $30 1-7 days. Another attendant said $30 is entry fee only (can come and go for 7 days but no overnight camping) so we were charged an additional $14/night to sleep on the beach. Regardless - it was worth it!

You have to drive around and find a place to park your vehicle. The first night we were a little ways back from the beach. We had 11 people staying in a motorhome designed to sleep 10 so we were hot and crowded. Quiet time is 10 so no generator (and no airconditioning) until 6 am. Half of us ended up sleeping outside on the sand.
The winds blow quite frequently from what I have found out. We had high winds for a few hours from noon on until the sun started setting. The water was nice and cool and made everything bearable. 7 of our group were kids and spent almost the entire day in the water.
The sand is ultra-fine. It is the softest sand I have ever seen. That is good and bad. It was great for the kids to play in and walk on. It just gets everywhere. Especially when the wind is blowing. I left my sandals outside overnight and had to move sand to find them the next morning. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and found sand inside the S-pen slot. It's now been 10 days since we were there and as of today I no longer detect sand in the s-pen slot. This is just a warning for anything you might take with you that could be damaged by the sand. It gets everywhere.
Our 2nd day there we were able to move closer to the water. We positioned the RV to block as much wind as possible for the parents sitting outside, watching the kids. It was much nicer being close enough to see the kids from the RV rather than walking between other camps to get a beach spot.
The bathrooms were very clean and a little ways back from the water.
Overall the kids had a blast and are already requesting to go back. It was quite a bit more work for us parents trying to minimize sand in the RV and not getting stuck in soft spots. The evenings were nice and we had a couple of beautiful sunsets. Since it's in Utah, campfires were allowed. Just be aware of the predicted winds.
We had no cell service with Verizon or T-Mobile. Every once in a while a text would appear from a brief moment of service, but then quickly disappear before I could reply.

Very awesome views. We loved staying here. You choose your own spot and all are close to the beach or within walking distance. It’s really really hot, there are no electric hook ups. Be sure to bring a generator if you can’t tolerate the heat.
No electric, no water hook ups. They do have a dump station.
Bad cell phone service.

When I first got to the entry point, it looked as if it might be an empty campground. But after I paid and went down the hill toward the beach, it was packed full of campers and RVs. It's a pretty big beach so finding a spot away from everyone was easy to do. My nearest neighbors were about 300 yds away.

There is a manned fee station partway down the road to the camping area. We asked about parking on the sand and the ranger said, "It depends on your risk aversion". We unhooked in the upper area which was hard packed sand/gravel and walked down to the beach. There are no footpaths, so that means walking on the road for a little ways.
There were a LOT of campers on the beach in everything from tents to class As. They were not right on the water, but about 50-100 yards up from the water. We decided to stay in the upper area because it was less crowded and we assumed, less noisy.
The first night was relatively quiet, but the second night, a LOT of campers came in and crowded into the upper lot. Meanwhile, the beach ended up emptying out quite a bit. There was still a lot of room available in the upper lot, but we ended up with 2 trailers parked very close beside us who wanted to loudly share their political philosophies, etc. until all hours of the night. After 10 pm, I asked if they would mind being a little quieter, but they were unwilling. There was no camp host or ranger and it was hot, so we had to have the windows open. All during the night, campers pulled in and out.
The location is close to the Glen Canyon Dam, Horseshoe Bend, and some hiking in the Glen Canyon recreation area.

Everything as said in other reviews. Plenty of nice non beach spots at 2 pm Saturday afternoon. Seems quiet. Civilized boondocking. Good road, found a nice place for our 27’ trailer with no problem.
