Question about Lone Rock Beach Primitive Camping Area

Nancy asked on 3/30/2022

We are planning on coming in late April, just to camp and hike. Is it worth the effort given the water level being so low. I saw somewhere you could walk to the rock?

There will still be plenty of hiking available in the area. The water level is currently very low but by the end of April should be up a bit due to spring run off. Of course it is more fun when the water is up but that time of year the water will be pretty cold and not that much fun to play in anyway.

We were there in the summertime, so I don’t know about April. We didn’t hike much but I can tell you the dune buggies we’re all over the place and the sand can be deep so make sure you are on solid ground when finding a place to park or you will get stuck!

Yes you can walk to the rock right now. But you have to be the one to decide if it’s worth it to you or not with the little one.

Lone rock was one of my favorite place to camp last fall. Yes the water is very low, but it is still beautiful. I believe there was a small river you would need to cross to get all the way to the rock. Also great hikes in the area. Check out the New Wave trail near the Behive campground.
