11/22 for 2 nights. Not busy this time of year so plenty of room to spread out and get a view spot on the shore. Just follow the sand road paths that look hard packed. Many fire rings already in place.

So many places to park along the river or off the river. Looks like over 150 campers could fit here. Only had around 30 for the night I stayed. A few small fire rings throughout the land and SEVERAL vault toilets, which were clean. I think I counted 20? Good AT&T service and beautiful sunsets. About 20 minutes from horseshoe bend or 10 minutes from Page, AZ to stock up on groceries and gas. What a nice find!

This place won’t be for everyone. It’s beautiful, but busy. There is zero T-Mobile service for miles around this location. Many of the reviews talk about taking the left hand road BEFORE the bathroom parking lot and that would have been the worst road for our truck/travel trailer to venture down. Luckily, we decided to unhook the trailer at the bathrooms and drive the roads first. There are so many roads that cut down to the beach (like 10+), many are questionable for RV’s. It’s almost impossible to know which one of these roads the reviews are referring to when you first arrive. It’s like an octopus. We found that if we continue passed the flush toilet bathroom/outdoor shower area on the main road (not the vault toilets, the actual bathrooms which will be on your left, and dumpsters will be to the right) and then take the middle road that appears to have some old pavement to part of it. Cut over in between vault toilets #10 and #11, taking a left in front of #10 and driving the path in front of the row of vault toilets, this was the easiest route. There will be some rough places on the road that you’ll need to go slow, but not slow enough to get stuck. There are sometimes 100+ RVs here so you can definitely find a way down, but it’ll take some scoping out. When we first arrived on a Wednesday, we found a place facing the beach right in front of lone rock. By the time we left on Saturday, there was 2-3 lines deep of RVs parked along the beach. It reminded me of being at the races. Not a place for quiet days, but everyone seemed to be fairly quiet at night. You can access the water and launch a kayak/paddle board but it’s a steep climb down to the water and took us a good 10 minutes to carry the heavy kayak up. There’s super cool coves that you can kayak around the area.
There is a dump station and water close to the entrance of the park. We filled and dumped when we arrived, and needed to do it again before we left but we didn’t want to lose our parking spot so we did without water the last day. When we were leaving the park, there was a line of RVs waiting to dump on Saturday.
This isn’t a place where you can expect to have your own space. People will literally set up 5’ from you just so they can get a good view. You just have to embrace neighbors and know that everyone is there to enjoy the view.
You can run a generator, but have to cut it off by 10p.
There are flushable toilets (2-4 stalls) and about 12 vault toilets. There’s an outdoors spray off shower with cold water. We didn’t notice any smell from the vault toilets the first couple of days, but by the weekend you could smell a bit of sewage as you drive by them.

BE CAREFUL IN THE SAND. It is easy to get your car stuck.
We had a sedan, so we took extra caution and setup camp further from the water. (Also because we didn’t want to be near people due to COVID). There was plenty of room to spread out.
We wanted to kayak Lake Powell, so afternoon setting up, it was easy to walk the kayaks down to the water and put in right on the beach. You might want to wear some type of shoes, the sand is HOT!! My friend burnt his foot and it blistered immediately. Although the views are absolutely beautiful, this campground is loud and noisy all night. Lots of ATVs, dirt bikes, etc. Cool experience, would have enjoyed it more being closer to the water and not during COVID.
13 bathroom areas with two vault toilets in each. (More than website says). Very little AT&T service.

This is a free-for-all camping beach area, the main gate will not give you much direction. Tbone advice: stay to the left when driving down to camp! The left road is a mix of gravel and sand fairly easy to drive. You will probably get stuck going to the right on any road down to the beach (saw one RV stuck for 1/2 an hour) I did have to use 4 wheel drive...I went on the wrong road.
There were 100-150 RV’s camping in this location, no joke. However, there is 2 miles of beach area to choose from. Some folks had aligned RV’s in a semi-circle to create a private camping experience.
My wife and I parked on upper beach area and had 50ft between other campers (very nice)
** Tbone camping scale: (0-10) “0”=horrendous “10”=phenomenal
—getting there: “1” (although this is an awesome place to camp you have to drive through bone dry landscape to get there)
—bugs: “9” (some gnats, no need for bug spray)
—temps: “8” (midday: 93, night: 75 no humidity)
—bathrooms: “2” (pit toilets..but you’re sharing with 200-300 other people)
—yahoos: “7” (although this is a high recreation area: boating, atvs, loud music, etc. there were lots of families, no fights, everyone was quiet by 10 pm)
—supply access: “5” (the town of Page is 9 miles east, they are expensive)
—things to do: “7” (perfect place for boats, jet skis, paddle boards, kayaks, swimming, and any OHV. Plus, it was a very happening place for friends and family) plus, plus: the water is clear and cool—perfect after a day of driving

We actually boonocked just up the road closer to Page and came into the park with our National Park pass for day use. We used the dump station and water fill which was great. There are also pit toilets closer to the beach, this is a great dry camping spot and the kayaking was awesome. Check out the video https://youtu.be/Nt5Jk7r-nuQ

It’s pretty crowded. The lake is beautiful and very fun, but it’s like a shanty town of RVs, van dwellers, and day-users. Kinda cool, but not private at all.
we were there at the beginning of June, and the heat was unreal. 100°+, full sun, turning our RV into an oven. The lake makes it worth it (for a day or two, IMO).
$14 is kind of steep for boondocking, but it is a national recreation area, so think of it as donating to the NPS.

There is a fee station at the entrance but the machine doesn’t seem to work all the time. There is an attendant that works in the booth sometimes but I never saw him.
Take the road on the left after the parking lot. There’s a bunch of sand paths to choose, I recommend the center road that takes you all the way down to the beach - it’s the shortest and flattest to take the fifth wheel down. We have a 30 ft fifth wheel, we had no problems.. a lot of people out enjoying the area; off road vehicles, boats, paddle boards and fishing. Truly a great experience, would definitely come back!
- plenty of dumpsters
- plenty of vault bathrooms
- dump station
- thirty min away from Walmart in Page
