We stayed here one night on a Sunday. It was very busy with lots of boats, jet ski's and canoes, Noisy through the day but very quiet at night. We stayed just up from the beach in front of the creek. Spots further from lake are more level. If you camp on the beach; stay off loose sand so you don't get stuck. Maximum stay: 14 days. R... more
We stayed here one night on a Sunday. It was very busy with lots of boats, jet ski's and canoes, Noisy through the day but very quiet at night. We stayed just up from the beach in front of the creek. Spots further from lake are more level. If you camp on the beach; stay off loose sand so you don't get stuck. Maximum stay: 14 days. Rate: $14/night payable at ranger station + entry fee. There is a dump station and fresh potable water is in the same location. No internet or phone coverage with AT&T or T-Mobile.

When I was there, howling winds had the air filled with sand. Couldn't spend much time outside. According to my sister, who owned a houseboat on Lake Powell and has a lot of experience with the place, bad winds are common. She has seen boats swamped and campsites blown away, with tents sailing like kites. So check your weather forecast... more

According to my sister, who owned a houseboat on Lake Powell and has a lot of experience with the place, bad winds are common. She has seen boats swamped and campsites blown away, with tents sailing like kites. So check your weather forecasts and anchor your outside gear securely. Weekends and holidays bring out the day use people who crowd in between campers. The rangers patrol and occasionally have to ticket or arrest people who've gotten out of hand. And sometimes boaters need to be rescued. But the day use people have to leave at sunset, then things calm down.

We wanted to spend a few days exploring Page, Arizona and this was the PERFECT place for a home base. A national park facility, it's $14/night for no hook-ups/primitive camping. They have vault toilets if needed. We were able to use solar and generator and probably could have stayed much longer than the 3 days we had scheduled. ... more
We wanted to spend a few days exploring Page, Arizona and this was the PERFECT place for a home base.
A national park facility, it's $14/night for no hook-ups/primitive camping. They have vault toilets if needed. We were able to use solar and generator and probably could have stayed much longer than the 3 days we had scheduled.
The sunrises were INCREDIBLE. Get yourself out of bed early and watch the sun come up behind the lake. It was so quiet I could hear the flapping of the birds wings as they flew overhead.
You will want to be careful for soft sand - but we found plenty of areas where there were rocks and harder ground. We used 4-wheel drive on our Ford F-250 and were careful to park where we had solid ground under both the truck and most of the trailer. If you're nervous about sand camping they do have camping available up on a paved "parking lot" - better for larger rigs, but you won't have the same ambiance.
Be prepared for trailers to pop up around you at any time - but we found that there was plenty of space for everyone and most people were courteous enough to give you enough space.
We have a Verizon Jetpack and found that we had no problems with internet and cell service (without a booster).
I would love to come back and camp when the weather is warmer and the kids can play in the lake. We had rain and wind that kept us from enjoying the lake as much as we'd like - but next time!
In terms of things to do in Page, Arizona - we did the Lower Antelope tour with Ken's Tours (loved it), toured the Glen Canyon Dam Visitors Center (kids did Junior Ranger program), went to Horseshoe Bend, rafted down the Colorado River through Horseshoe Bend, ate barbecue at Big John's Texas BBQ (delicious) and we even had the pleasure of a visit to the Page Hospital emergency room after my daughter broke her arm playing on the beach (great facility, if you have the unfortunate experience of needing medical care).
I'm giving site quality 4 out of 5 stars just because of the rough road going into the beach - a bit of a washboard road. But really that's my only complaint.

We read reviews that this place can get awfully crowded, but it seems we were there at a good time - just after spring breaks and before the summer. We scouted the area in the car, having read the reviews about soft sand. We drove on two roads that are a mix of gravel and sand, avoiding the soft sand paths and found a great spot on hard packed sand and gravel. The softer sand seemed to be on the far southeast side of the beach.
Several people camped next to us, but all of them parked a nice distance away from us. ATVs are restricted to an area away from the campers, and they did not come near us. The beach was generally clean, although I picked up a bunch of broken glass debris in an old fire ring by our site.
This beach is perfect for launching boats, and it's a beautiful setting. We did have high winds one day, but no rain. Not sure if we would stick around if it rained a lot.
The beach is dog friendly and you can walk a long way with your dog on the nice soft sand.
The location is convenient to the Wahweep Marina (for rentals), Glen Canyon Dam, tours of Antelope Canyon and more. Page is about 15 minutes away and has lots of services, including a Safeway and a Walmart.

When its warm and the boats and the jet skis and the atvs are running, no thanks. But in the off season this place is incredible. Its pretty much empty, incredibly scenic, great cell service and 10 minutes form Page. The sand isn't as scary as people make it out to be.

The sand isn't as scary as others made it out to be, if you're smart and avoid the lighter areas that are soft sand you will be totally fine, I saw a number of diesel pushers out there with no problems. The 'campground' is technically not free as others stated, they just got away without paying, as I did :) They do not have a host during the winter months, but do starting April 1st. As you get closer to this date they start manning the gate on the weekends primarliy, I came out on a Sunday and they charged me $14 to stay, but other than that nobody was checking.
Be sure to check the weather before you come out here, the wind can be brutal! Being in sand makes it that much worse, one night we had 40 mph winds and I was breathing dust all night long.
You do get a number of jackasses riding their atv's around the beach where they're not supposed to, but otherwise it was fairly quiet. The tenters do setup right next to you on the weekends, but it wasn't a bother.
There's an RV dump with water for flushing and a separate spigot for potable water, both free once you're inside the gate.
Verizon is faster out here than it is in town, but still very slow.

We decided to try this camping site out while we visited Page, AZ and we weren't disappointed. When you first get here you want to whip out the camera and start taking pictures. The white washed canyons, red mesa's and snow topped mountains in the background make this place very picturesque.
The camping area is very flat and level but like other review's have mentioned, watch out for the sand. There is plenty of space to spread out and but people do come right up on you and drop tents. Most of them only stay the night and are friendly. We met students from Germany, a guy traveling the southwest and a family just out for the night.
My wife and I worked from here for a few days and cell service worked much better than expected. We got 3-4 bars of Verizon LTE. It's a very nice view to enjoy while working.
A dump station is near the entrance, there is a gas station just up the road and town is only a few miles away. This campsite is a great base to go do other activities in the area. There is also plenty of trails and off road areas near the camping area to ride dirt bikes, atv's, and side by sides.

Lone Rock Beach was everything people had said, beautiful but watch out for getting stuck in the sand. We got stuck once and it was without the trailer thankfully. However just one of the two main trails down to the beach and you will be fine. The person who pulled us out actually became a friend so it was sort of good to get stuck! ... more

The lake water was too cold to swim in but we had beautiful weather while we were there. However I did not expect to find this place to be so popular. We arrived on a Sunday and left on Tuesday and both nights there were many people coming and going. The site was popular with locals and on the second night it sounded like a big party was happening at the far end of the beach. So do not expect to have a secluded stay at this location. It was a little frustrating that people would swoop right next to you when there was a lot of space still left.
So keep your expectations low and your eyes on the sand, and you will have a good time.

We were slightly worried that the cell coverage would be lacking due to the previous review, but it seems that Verizon has upgraded or installed a new tower recently.
That being said, this place is quite amazing. Throughout the day there are 4x4's, side by sides, boats, and jet skis, running around; but nothing has been aggravating thus far. There is enough room for everyone to spread out, just find a fire ring and setup camp (there are no designated spot, but the fire rings are scattered along the beach). As with most beach settings, there are always going to be a few partiers around, but most seem to follow the 10pm noise curfew, but not all. Watch where you drive, the further South East you go the softer the sand gets. We had no problem with 2wd, just be smart and walk sections you are unsure about. If you are a kayaker or paddle boarder, this will be a great spot for you, there are plenty of slot canyons to mill around other beautiful places to beach and have a picnic.
There is a dump station at the top of the hill near the host sights, and port-a-potty style cans scattered near the beach, but not close enough to smell. I did not visit them, but there were outdoor showers listed on the map.

So be careful where you drive! If you're worried, definitely stay more inland and you'll be safe.
This is a wonderful, peaceful spot and is great for taking long walks along the water. Definitely plan to visit Glen Canyon Dam while you're here. Their tour is only $5 and is really informative and interesting.
