Is not as "big" as the stats suggest. One Loop (25-30 sites) is closed for employees only. Another loop is Tent Only. Plus the sites very greatly in allowed RV/Trailer size. I arrived around 3PM on a Thursday in September and they only had two sites ( 18-foot max) open . . . everyone was being sent to the Group Sites for one night in hope that single sites would open the next day . . . my trailer is 15-foot so I got one of the last two open

We’ll try to post a pick of the campground map so you can see how they organize the camping experiences. And just a couple of add’l observations: Many of those up close moose pics are taken with bazooka-like lens as the moose only occasionally stroll thru the campground per se. Altho’ a campground, the site claiming works like an RV Park: Stop to check in, pick from the remaining available sites and pay, then try to avoid being swallowed up by the road craters to reach your loop and slice of asphalt. (Given the cash cow this is, some road maintenance isn’t too much to ask). Our Verizon signal report is with a WeBoost. If driving into Jackson, expect it to be traffic choked, sidewalk choked, retail store choked and with the Visitor Center guides expressing sadness for what their beautiful location has become. Consider leaving Fido in the RV as even doing a leash walk in a city park is outlawed in bold red print. The Tetons are what you’ve probably been drawn to, and they surely don’t disappoint and the conditions of the roads in GTNP are far better than its next door neighbor, Yellowstone. But a parking space at most of the visitor sites can be very hard to come by. We do indeed seem to be loving our national parks to death.

Loved this campground. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. We paid more for an electric hook up site in Loop D ($55 vs $35/night). Very quiet. Nice space, trees and native shrubs between sites. No showers, but flush toilets, dumping station and potable water. Sites are black top and level (as are the roads). Being a state campground, first come first serve. We showed up at 10:30am on a Sat and had no problem getting a spot. Woke up the next morning still without a neighbor, so lots of availability. Over 300 spaces in total.

Loop was freshly paved and the site was Level. Sites are a little small but was freshly paved and flat. Very quiet considering how many campers it holds. We visited several other campgrounds and thought this one was the best in the area.

Closest campground to Jackson Hole Large campground with seven loops/372 sites plus a group site that is first-come, first available. Loops are divided according to type: tent only, RV with allowable generator use, electric with no generators allowed, non-electric, group. The electric sites are pricey ($40 with a senior pass) so we used one for just one night to charge up and switched to a non-electric for the second night. Sites vary in size; some shrubbery or trees provide separation between some sites but not all. Our site for the first night (D184) was a little confusing in that the picnic table was located quite a distance from our parking pad and behind what almost looks like another parking pad (but it is not paved and does not have a number). When we returned in the evening, we found two people parked in this area using our table. They wanted to set up a tent but we held our ground. We woke the next morning to another car parked there! Our next night was spent in site D232, with a view of the mountains. Flush toilets with no showers as you would expect in a national park. There is a dump station and everything is recycled, including propane canisters, a welcome change after not seeing any recycling in Idaho. Very pleasant and helpful staff at check-in. They even showed us a photo of a carving made in a tree in our site. Obviously, they were not condoning the defacing of a tree but since it was there, it was nice they let us know about it as we never would have thought to look for it. This is the closest campground to Mormon village and to the town of Jackson Hole.

A nice campground with lots of spaces. No reservations; we got in on a Tuesday afternoon in mid-June about 3:00 pm. Our loop of the campground filled up the night we were there.
We had a spot in one of the "no-generator" loops (loop G) and it was pleasantly quiet and there is sufficient space between the camp sites that you don't feel too crowded. However, a wilderness experience it is not.
The Gros Ventre river runs right by the camp is makes for a nice stroll. On the other wide (west) of the campground are great views of the Tetons.

Campground is great! Staff is great, with one exception. This man rides through the CG every evening on a golf cart with his dog. I parked the truck in an area where rocks had been laid to create a parking spot. The third day there he rides through and without stopping, just yells at the top of his lungs like a drill instructor, "GET THAT TRUCK OFF THE GRASS, IF YOU DON"T I WILL TELL THE RANGER!" He didn't stop and identify himself as an employee and ask me to move. Fact is the ranger had driven through twice and had seen my truck parked and made no comment. Two days later the loud mouth jerk came through with an employee on his cart and made the remark loud enough for me to hear, "I made this man move his truck" like it was one of his greatest accomplishments. This man needs serious re-training, until then his skill set lends itself to the laying of rocks for more parking spaces.
