Great location to the canyon, so we stayed 2 nights. About 1/2 mile of bumpy road at the entrance, just go slow. We'll kept bathrooms by the tower.

As everyone says the first .5 miles into the site is bumpy rough, just go slow. Then it is smooth with lots of private options. Walked up to the tower and was pleasantly surprised with very well kept bathrooms. We packed up to hike the canyon but decided to come back for a second night. Great cell service.

You’ll see a no camping and fires sign on your way out of the park, but if you keep going you will get to the Kaibab Forest sign after the cattle grate and you are sweet to camp there. Yeeeew pretty spot.

While the dirt road between the turnoff from 64 and the cattle grate entrance to Kaibab National Forest is rough (crazy amount of potholing and some ruts, I was able to get through it with a 35' class A with a tow dolly and small car...you'll just go *really* slow through it. Plenty of open areas and spots in the middle of this Memorial Day weekend, which is very pleasantly surprising.

As stated in other reviews the road from the pavement to the cattle guard is a challenge but doable if you go slow. We have a 25’ bumper pull behind a crew cab truck. We also saw much larger toy haulers and Class As so I think anyone could make it. I would not attempt this road in wet weather. You do have to go through the National Park gates and that is expensive unless you have an annual or lifetime pass.
There are lots of sites to choose from and they are well separated. It is really peaceful aside from the helicopter tour traffic out of Tusayan which occurs sporadically. It is super dark at night and easy access to the Grand Canyon trails etc.
This spot is less than 3 hours from home and we will come back here for quick getaways.

My wife and I are from Colorado, and we arrived here pulling our 38 foot bumper pull RV and the scenery was amazing. We went back in roughly a mile almost to the second cattleguard and it was very peaceful. We found a location with an open area large enough to get clear satellite signal so our Starlink worked perfectly also, although we did have it on a flag pole.
And yes the road from the paved road to the cattleguard is quite rough, but if you go about 5 miles an hour it is very doable. It doesn’t take that long and after that the roads are much better. I will try to post a photo showing how the rough section looks with my headlights highlighting the dips.
We stayed here about six or seven days and took our time seeing the Grand Canyon and other scenery. This way we could capture some evening shots, daytime shots, etc. for my YouTube channel.

As others have noted, this is as awesome find. Road was bumpy but not risky when dry this summer and as soon as you get to the cattle gate it’s smooth sailing. We went as far as the tower before choosing a great level spot in the trees. Good ATT and Verizon service and easy access to the south rim. Loved it.
