Thanks all. We were not able to access this area on April 17 with a 34’ 5th wheel as the road was impassable due to very muddy conditions. A truck was stuck waiting for a tow.

At least 1/4 - 1/2 mile off the main road. In the wet or just after season it can get pretty ruddy especially past the cattle guard. There are a few open camping areas prior to that, but not as private or developed.

This road is graded/maintained seasonally (usually in the spring). I have been multiple times and not experienced any rough road along Rim Road (300).

I have not known that road to be very rough. Just primitive.

It took us about 1 stressful hour - We remember it being about 1/2 mile. The ranger recommended we don't drive it, but we tried it anyway. Depending on the size of your rig it might be worth it. Our rig is 40'

It has been 4 years since I was there, but from what I remember it was less than a mile. The fence separating the national park and national forest is visible on google maps and the cattle guard is at the fence.

It’s probably less than a mile as I recall. And wasn’t all that bad - just go slow. Excellent boondocking sites along the road.
