Overall Rating
The area is beautiful and there are lots of areas to camp, but the mosquitos are the worst I’ve seen in awhile. You aren’t able to do anything outside without losing a pint of blood. There looks to be lots of trails for dirt bikes and ATV’s, but bring a lot of bug spray. I had one or two bars of Verizon, but data was almost unusable.

We ended up at Wolford Mountain Recreation Area because the forest roads in Steamboat were still closed due to snow. The GPS coordinates on Campendium lead you to a small camping area that is out of the way from the OHV activity. We ended up at Wolford Mountain Recreation Area because the forest roads in Steamboat were still closed due to snow. The GPS coordinates on Campendium lead you to a small camping area that is out of the way from the OHV activity.
During our stay there was a lot of rain which made the road REALLY muddy and the mosquitos were out in full force.
I forgot to measure cell service, but was able to work off of of Verizon & AT&T during our stay.

Straight-up boondocking with scattered sites of all sizes. The area is friendly to OHV, shooting, licensed fishing, and licensed hunting. We were glad we stopped at the BLM office in Kremmling for current conditions and tips on the roads best suited to our TT. Straight-up boondocking with scattered sites of all sizes. The area is friendly to OHV, shooting, licensed fishing, and licensed hunting. We were glad we stopped at the BLM office in Kremmling for current conditions and tips on the roads best suited to our TT. It would be quite possible to get stuck out there, especially in wet weather. Weak roaming service with Sprint allowed texts but not calls.
