"Dump Station Water is Seasonal"

When we pulled in to dump after boondocking, a cheerful camp host rode out on a 4-wheeler to greet us. He confirmed that RVs could dump at the campground for a fee, but that rinse water was seasonal (and not working yet). He suggested Red Mountain... Read more

"Easy Access for $10 dump"

Inside pay to get a code (like a carwash code) for their pull-through dump station. Rinse water available and it was an easy hookup. Truck plaza amenities, deli food inside, and an IHOP made this a nice easy stop.

"Boondocking in 24' TT"

Straight-up boondocking with scattered sites of all sizes. The area is friendly to OHV, shooting, licensed fishing, and licensed hunting. We were glad we stopped at the BLM office in Kremmling for current conditions and tips on the roads best... Read more

"Windy Getaway"

This small but pretty wildlife area is not the easiest to find and not very close to . . . well, anything. But we like that. Arrival at night in the rain was hairy. The entrance off CR-31 is marked with a non-reflective metal and timber sign... Read more

"Review for Dump Station Only"

Because Wolford Campground had not yet turned on its tank-flush water for the season, we pulled in to use Red Mountain's dump station. The park host was quick and courteous, and the fee was a reasonable $10. The RV park was very quiet--it was... Read more

"Inarguably, a Kid's Paradise"

You have to understand what you're getting into with Jellystone. It's basically a cruise ship for kids, with s'mores. We've stayed there twice: once in a "Boo-Boo Lodge" cabin and once in an RV. The kiddos (ages 9 and 5) think it's absolute... Read more

"Quiet Boondocking in a 19' TT"

No services or water at this exit, but our 19' TT was an easy fit, and we saw larger TTs up the road as well. At Interstate 70 Exit 227, cut south under the freeway and west on the freeway's frontage road. Almost immediately after the... Read more

Trip Report: Visit #1 to BaseCamp / Golden Gate Canyon State Park

“If you ask again whether you can light the fire, my answer will change from ‘maybe’ to ‘no.'” It’s an autopilot response only.  Because of course the campfire lighting, plus s’mores to follow,...

Camping Itinerary: Colorado’s Pawnee National Grassland

It’s always fun to compare your best-laid plans to reality. Here are the best-laid plans for RV Trip #2.  I wrote this while nervously eyeballing a foot of snow in the yard. But the weather app...
