The campground host was friendly, the showers were hot and clean. There’s one handicap shower. We are up on a hill and there’s a beautiful view of the lake. Very quiet. Loved our stay!

There isn’t a lot to do in this area. West End camping is $18 per night and is reservable but there are about 50 spots in nearby areas for free. If you are coming from west there is a spot about 1 mile before the overlook called Flat Lake. Those most were more private and looked nicer.
There are also free spots in this gps location and around it. It’s big rig friendly and many folks were using the sites for many days.
We wouldn’t stay there again because there isn’t much to do other than boating. The beach and shoreline are rocky. This place is great if you’ve got a boat and don’t mind generators. There aren’t many trees and there is no where to walk nearby besides the no-shoulder roads. It’s more for the boat/RV hang out type than the nature seeking but it was a nice and easy stopover for the night. It was busy but as mentioned, there are a lot of options nearby.
No complaints for a free place. Vault toilets, fire pits, gravel parking spots. Paid camping has showers but dad didn’t use.
Cell service was weak on TMobile even with a we-boost. Verizon was better but not fast enough to work. I headed to the overlook (1/2 mile away) and worked from the picnic table for several hours. Videos and conference calls were fine and it had epic views.
