We chose this campground as we needed to do some shopping in Reno and also because I am flying out of the Reno airport. For that purpose I would say it’s an OK Campground. Carson City is closer than Reno from the CG if you’re just looking to do some shopping.
The sites are large with some pull throughs and all are paved. They have a Ramada over the picnic table. This time of year they are not allowing wood or charcoal fires. The fire pits have a yellow ribbon across them. You are allowed propane fires. A few small trees, but mainly sage flatland.
Campendium says 20 and 30 amp power but we have 50 amp power. Water and power at the campsites and the dump station is free if you are a camper here, if not it’s a five dollar fee.
The lake itself is extremely shallow and muddy at the present time. There is an algae bloom at this time which prevents the use of the lake. So no fishing swimming, boating or allowing your dogs in the water.
I imagine that during the migrating season, the wetlands would be interesting. There’s a very long day use area. There are a few small trails to take your pups for a walk but nothing more than a little over a mile in length.

Stayed in site #4, a pull through with water and electric. All sites in Loop A can accommodate big rigs, so are pull through half circles and others- back in. Every site was paved, with a covered picnic table. We saw wild horses near the campground. Close to both Carson City and Reno. We would stay here again.

If we stay somewhere 3 times you know it's a nice one. We were here during the off season, mid-week. The prices AND crowds change radically throughout the camping year at Washoe St Pk. In late Sept half the sites were reservable and half 1st come, 1st serve.
With no reservation we got a site in the A loop with electric/water hookups for 3 nights. The B loop doesn't have hookups so there were lots of generators running mornings and evenings.
The showers are just ok. It's a hard spray, it actually can sting your skin, and you can't adjust the temperature. Also you have to push the "button" every few seconds just to keep the flow going. That's kinda hard to do while you're shampooing your hair...Better than nothing, but not much.
There is a price included dump station at the 2 camping loops entrance to dump your tanks.
Since this State Park is located between Carson City and Reno you have the feeling of being out in the boonies, but your not. We checked out Carson City for 2 solid days, we loved the State Capital, State Museum, Old Mint Building and the historic downtown...So much more to do in these parts, and this place makes a great base camp.

We arrived at 1145 and got the last spot on loop B. Loop A was full and were power and water is. This is an excellent place to park for a few nights. Spacious and quiet. They allow car camping in open car spaces so beware of this.
Water is available throughout the loops. The dump station is included in the fee and has portable water.

After paying $60 a night we didn’t have a problem paying $5 extra because we are from another state. We dry camp a lot and we found a site with the rangers assisting with suggestions. It was in the 90’s during the day but shade and breeze off the lake kept it comfortable.

Pro: mostly an older crowd, so, as far as them, it was quiet
Cons: dump station closed indefinitely; water spigots in non-hookup loop busted; families with kids have consistently been the loudest in any campground I've ever been; people leave their dogs in their trailer and drive their trucks away for the entire day, and the dogs bark constantly (plus it's against Nevada state park rules, plus it's a d-bag thing to do); there is a very sketchy percentage of campers, almost as much as in Dayton; the day use area/lake is more than a mile away; there is horse manure (and, to a slightly lesser extent, dog poop) EVERYWHERE; good luck contacting, or even seeing once, the "hosts" who appear to do a little more than take a public water spigot for themselves; the rangers are almost as difficult to find, and almost impossible to get on the phone. And I would say there are thick clouds of gnats and biting insects but that would make it seem like there's any air at all within the campground loops that _isn't_ full of gnats and biting insects. It's all one big cloud.
Why is this always full???

Very nice park, a little on the high side as NV charges a surcharge on out of state campers of $5 extra dollars. The dump station was out of order due to the lake water table rising. They estimate it won’t open until near the end of summer!! The closest dump station is at a Maverick station down in Carson City

It's spring time in Northern Nevada after an extraordinary winter in the Sierra Nevadas. We live in the mountains so we did a quick trip and chose to stay at Washoe Lake State Park to get out of the snow and warm up. It's a first come, first serve park, we arrived about 2:30 ish on a Friday and it was probably 2/3 full when we arrived. You have a choice of electric/water hookups or just self contained. We wanted to test our self contained set up so purposefully chose one of those spots.
Pros:
Spacious Campsites
View of them mountains is awesome
Walks to the lake and sand dunes from our campsite
Hike up the hillside 2 minutes or so down the road to Deadmans Creek Trailhead
Lots of wild horses, birds and jack rabbits - wild horses were a favorite part of this visit
Lots of sun for our solar panel
Friendly staff
Close to south Carson City if you want to pop out and grab dinner
Easy on the wallet, we paid a total of $30 for 2 nights.
Amenities:
ADA spots looked nice and they had a few of them for those looking for that
Bathrooms with showers, didn't use them much but they were there
Horseshoe Pit
Has a dump station but it was closed when we were there. We went to Mavericks in Carson City where they had a dump station for free, we also gassed up as they have nice RV/Trailer Gas Pump area so easy to pull up,
Cons:
The bathroom in loop B was a little funky, whole in the wall for trash looks through the middle so doesn't seem quite private. Bathroom in loop A was better. The bathroom in Loop A also has the showers.
