Good AT&T, fair Verizon and ZERO T-Mobile service.

First come first serve and we got the last 2 sites when we arrived about 1 on a Friday afternoon. Our fire pit had lots of trash, which we cleaned up before we left. Sign at the entrance all weekend said campground full despite about 6 sites in both loops being open mid-day Sat and Sun. We found out when we left on Sunday that the Saturday we stayed was Nevada Public Lands day which meant all fees were waived. No mention at the entrance so we paid for 2 nights despite Sat being free. We did see rangers driving around but not doing much else.
A loop sites bigger and now has electrical @ $25/night. B loop dry camping and smaller sites $15/night. Great location but signage to entrance is very small and easy to miss. Good hiking and close to Carson City!

The only down side is Verizon sucks out here. One, maybe two bars.

Arrived around 5pm on a Tuesday the last day of April and even though the weather is crappy (low 40’s with intermittent rain/snow and a freeze warning), there were only a few spots left. Surprised to see several tent campers. As other reviews have pointed out, only the B Loop is open; the A loop is going to have electric (and water?) installed but no completion date was indicated. Would have been nice to have electric on these cold nights so we could plug in our portable heater. I think when Loop A is completed, it will be the nicer of the two - farther from the road and with aforementioned amenities. First Nevada State Park we’ve been to with flush toilets (but no soap and they could use a little maintenance work - some faucets missing and one toilet took extreme muscle to flush. I also felt like Goldilocks - one toilet was so low, I was squatting and another was so high, I had to hoist myself up!) Sites all looked level and most were back-in (even the handicapped ones) but ours (33) was a “pull-through”. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring but only some have shelters over the tables (a must on hot summer days). Very quiet in Site 33. I didn’t hear road noise some mentioned but those closer to the road might hear more. I can only imagine it would be a completely different scenario in the summer when people come to enjoy the lake. I would definitely recommend walking to the lake in the morning for nice reflection shots.

Of note, Loop A is currently closed for maintenance. The dump station is also closed. There are no signs or literature estimating when either will reopen. I pulled in around noon on a Thursday and there were only a few sites open; it was full by 2:00 pm. The sites are of varying size and vast majority of them are back in, off of the one-way loop. The pull-through sites are simply wide spots in the road and the first one I tried really wasn’t suitable for my 32’ Class A. The handicap sites are the smallest I’ve ever seen at a park – they can be utilized by non-handicapped campers only if they are the last ones available. It’s a beautiful setting, looking out over the lake and the up at the mountains. The sites are reasonably spaced and there is a lot of sagebrush and a few trees for vegetation which supports a good variety of bird life. Each site has a nice ramada, hefty picnic table and fire pit.
No hookups but there are water spigots along the loop. 7 day camping limit in a 30 day period. My Verizon 4g signal varied between 2 and 3 bars. The park parallels Eastlake Blvd and there is a surprising amount of traffic. I happen to be in a site that is closest to the road and the road noise is noticeable. Watch for deer if you travel on Eastlake Blvd, I saw a herd of 40 or more lounging in a field – probably resting up for evening of roaming the roads. Standard price (without any of the access passes) is $15.

A gem in the valley! Somewhat off the beaten path, yet still only 10 minutes from town. Gazebos at most sites, as well as a fire pit and picnic table. Two restroom buildings (very clean) and one shower facility. Spacious sites. Will definitely return!

The road nearby is Eastlake Blvd, if going south from the campground it is great. But the road coming from the north is paved but not great, goes past several ranches and is very bumpy. We made several trips south from the park in our toad vehicle.
One day we went to Virginia City, that was really cool!! So many saloons! We did the ghost tour in the Washoe Club, scary, also did the Ponderosa mine tour where you go into a real mine shaft. Avoid this tour if you have claustrophobia!! I got a bit freaked out a few times but survived. Very well worth the 20 minute drive from the park!! Virginia City is like transporting into the past! We were also amazed at how high the elevation is and the main drag through Virginia City is not level at all. There is an RV park up there, but if you take your RV up there take the truck route, the main road has 15% grade with switchbacks. Oh, also the cemetery is worth a walk through. We missed the school house and the Way it Was museum, probably worth the time also.
We lived in LA for twenty years so on another day we made the twenty minute drive to the "In And Out Burger" in Carson City. It was just as good as we remembered! Dish TV worked great.
Btw, 10 minutes away in Carson City are several laundromats, we are full timers and have a washer and drier but since this park has no hookups we visited the "Economy Wash and Dry" in Carson City, kind of pricy, but worked great.

Warning- the weather was perfect while we there, but the Washoe area (which is right between Carson City and Reno) is know for high winds at times, so be prepared.

Also good value with dump station, water available and showers/toilets all for just $15/night (no hookups). It was pretty empty while we were here so lovely and quiet. As previous reviews have mentioned, lots of jackrabbits, birds etc. There are shade structures for each site but few tall trees, so mid-summer would be hot, but it was certainly not unmanageable in early September. We stayed on the loop closest to the lake with a lake view in the distance - Great place.
