Very limited shade. Sites on top of each other. Nothing but a vault toilet and dumpster

We loved this campground so much we stayed an extra night. We were here early in the season and mid-week, so the campground wasn’t full and it was chilly at night (43 degrees one morning!). The sites were a mix of pull throughs and tent only. We have a 27’ trailer; max length is 35’. We enjoyed seeing wild horses near our site. It was extremely windy during our stay, which made being outside for meals, etc a bit annoying. There are pit toilets and water at the campground, but no hook ups. Spotty Verizon service. Mike the campground host was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and gave us great ideas for day hikes for our family. He also said that the campground fills up every weekend. We used this campground as a base for two days of adventures at White Sands. The drive down the mountain to Alamogordo is gorgeous but definitely not one you’d want to do in winter weather - the elevation change is approx 4000 ft over 15 miles. We went to White Sands in the late afternoon to avoid the heat, and stayed through sunset (highly recommend), which meant that we drove back up the mountain pass in the dark - not a big deal, just watch for deer. We loved this spot and would stay here again.

Great site. We had a place in the middle of the campground and it was perfect. Not busy like the ends but we had plenty of space between us and the next campers. Water and firewood were available. Beautiful mountain campground and close to Cloudcroft if you wanted to go into town for the day.
