$26 a night for no hookups was pretty steep so we only stayed a night before heading just down the road for free boondocking.
If you rely on solar, you're going to get negligible yield from any of the sites. They allowed generators during various hours. Cell service was excellent as it is in most of the area with speeds exceeding 50mbps on ATT and TMobile

We stayed here in early August ‘21. This place and the area are amazing. Highs in the high 60’s, lows in the upper 40’s. Nice hike path surrounding the campground. Close to town. Elevation is 8,000+ ft. I would highly recommend it. The biggest takeaway - there are no hook ups. We have a lot of solar on our trailer, but between the 50+ ft. trees and the partly cloudy weather, we were soon running out of electricity. Internet was great. I took a Zoom call for work with no problem.
***Strongly advise you to have a generator if you want to stay more than a day.***

We absolutely loved it here! It’s a small-ish campground with a friendly host and such a peaceful setting. It’s first come first served only. Easy to back into the sites..clean vault toilets..picnic tables and a fire ring.

Arrived on a Sunday around noon. Although the campground is operating at fifty percent capacity: we had no trouble getting a spot. Be prepared to get creative with leveling on some of the spots (but we knew that before we got here). Also, there are no hookups, so bring a generator. We haven't needed AC or heater since we've been here. Cell service is great for work as well as streaming. We have had mule deer as well as elk inside the loop. We've also heard the occasional bugle call of a bull elk as well. There are wild horses about also.
The elevation is a tad over 8900 foot... so be prepared to have to catch your breath occasionally. This is one of my favorite spots, we are talking about coming back for a week on our way home later this month.

Stayed at Apache Campground for one week at the beginning of July 2020. Campground was at 50% capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Campground Host "Tom" was fantastic. Informative, accommodating and great at getting loud campers to quiet down during quiet hours. Pit Toilets are by their nature not the greatest but were well kept and clean.
Daytime highs in the 80's and overnight lows were in the 60's.
Fire Restrictions were in effect. No wood or charcoal fires were allowed. Gas/Propane stoves were allowed.
Campground and campsites are surrounded by large Douglas Fir trees.
Water spigot was available at campground entrance for refilling water containers or internal water tanks in RV.
Portable solar panels work best.
Best time of the week to get a camp site is Sunday afternoon through Wednesday.
Sites 4 and 14 are the best camp sites.
Cloudcroft is a 10 minute drive for supplies and shopping.
10 minute showers for $5 are available at Silver Over Flow. Water was hot.

The website is wrong about the length of RV allowed. We stayed in 37 feet home. Back in. Make sure to think about your slide outs when parking, lol, or you'll be moving spots. However, we were grateful for automatic leveling. If you don't have that it might take a few minutes to find the correct site for you.
It is self-pay, leaving money (cash or check) in an envelope at the front. No hook ups. However free drinking water at the front. There are also clean bathrooms and a friendly park ranger on duty. He was helpful. There was a mama bear and cub when we visited so he was extra careful about checking spaces each evening. The closest trash can is a 1-mile round trip.
The hummingbirds are all around here and will land on you if you have some fruit. They have generator hours off and on so it keeps this place quiet. There are a lot of squirrels and raccoons.
There are a lot of tent campers here as well.
If you park on the outside or your right when you come in, you are right by a walking trail and more likely to encounter wild life. So keep that in mind if you want privacy as people on the trail can look up and see your tent, ext...
