Stayed here 3 nights, 3-4 other campers during our stay. The big trees and moss are so lovely. There is no toilet or water, so just need to dig a hole in the outskirts of camp. About 5 sites run along the outside, these are the best as you have an edge to go into for toilet. The inner circle also has about 5 sites, these remained empty during our stay, they were nice though more open, but just means you got to walk a little further to find cover for a pee or poop. We did not see the camp host, though we saw one drive by. There are several houses near the campground, like a 3 minute walk, where I imagine people live.
We really enjoyed the hiking here, plenty of shade or sun for solar, we don't have a generator but some RVs did and ran it in the daytime, didn't bother us too much. I imagine it had been raining a lot the week before we arrived as we struggled to find dry wood. We burned a lot of wet wood the first night, and it was nice but smokey and a lot of work to keep going, a bit too cold the not have a fire. Going back I would buy a bundle of wood and some lighter fluid in case the wood is wet again. This was February and when the rest of the US was freezing, so perhaps it's not usually so cold this time of year. In the daytime with the sun it was amazing, but chilly enough ugh after the sun went down to need warm clothes and a fire to stay warm. So thankful such a place exists! It was very clean and camping neighbors were nice.
Oh we had just 1-2 bars with AT&T and Sprint didnt work for us. Could get things done, perhaps just slightly slower than normal.

Take your time especially as you get closer to the campground and branches are hanging down. It's a 1.5 lane wide packed sand road to the campsite. Camped here the weekend before Christmas and there were only three other groups. Lots of folks showed up for day hikes on the weekend and the day hike parking lot is right next to the campground.
loved the short hikes. Also nice level roads for mountain biking or horseback riding.

Last minute overnight (Labor Day) stay. First time here and it was pretty buggy. Glad I brought my Deep Woods Off! I was the only one camping here so it was very peaceful, except for the bugs. Will definitely go back when it’s less buggy!

We went there on a whim and really enjoyed being out of the house during these uncertain Covid 19 times. It was our first time using our Napier BackRoadZ SUV tent and it ROCKS!! This was a 45 minutes ride from our home and a trial run for the tent set up for longer, more adventurous trips.
Reserving the spot couldn't have been easier. We emailed the park ranger on their website Thursday evening and were happily replied to a few hours later that we were OK to load in Friday morning.
The grounds are really well kept without any hook ups or facilities which was fine with us as we wanted the dry camping experience. There are several fire rings and picnic tables at the sites. 8 sites are in a loop arrangement with PLENTY of space between them. We chose site #4 as it was equidistant from 2 RV;s already set up at the far ends of the loop. It has a picnic table and fire ring (shared by 2 sites) and a rope swing.
The huge ancient live oaks are amazing to have coffee under in the morning. (Even though the "Yellow flies" and regular mosquitoes were out of control we still enjoyed it very much. We knew we were camping the Low Country in May for sure. lol.

We were here February 11, so Mosquitos weren’t bad. Couldn’t ask for a nicer spot with majestic Live Oaks covered with Spanish Moss and a beautiful boardwalk out into the marsh. Fire ring and a picnic table. Good cell service but no pit toilets.

This place is awesome! The drive in, closer to the sites, is enchanting! Lined with huge live oaks. If you’re lucky you might catch the Resurrection Ferns after a rainy day. Google it!
The trails are great! We took our two dogs on them and our mountain bikes. They are not legit mountain biking trails in terms of obstacles/technical options, but a nice scenic ride. Lots of wildlife: birds and bird watchers, gators!!!!, wild boar. The gators are out in the sun and hide when it’s not sunny. Some of them are huge and others small. We walked the Marshland Trail 3X and though a bit scary, the gators came nowhere near us. Pretty cool to see. We only saw one small boar and never any after that.
At night it is very dark until the moon rises high in the sky. Bring a light/head lamp. There are cement squares for a fire and some have the fire ring.
AMPLE parking space for any size rig! You could fit two-3 rigs in one spot if you wanted to.

Very nice quiet campground. Very large sites under large oak trees. Eight sites total a maximum of four night stay, you must fill out a registration card at the kiosk.
Well-maintained hard packed sand road coming in with some low hanging branches.
Great wildlife seen a number of alligators on the orange trail.

Dry camping, no amenities, pack it in and pack it out and take care of this beautiful free space.
***Access via a long maintained dirt road, there are some low hanging trees (but we saw a large class A while we were here so the clearance must have worked for them.)

Lovely place to stay. No facilities or hookups. The mosquitos were insane, but with the right amount of deet and a thermocell, all good. We were the only people who stayed. I would come back again, but maybe in the winter next time.

This was a great spot. We stopped here for a night on our way to Charleston and am glad we did. It was free and not too far off highway 17. It didn’t add much time to our trip the way most free campsites do. We were surprised to see other people there in December but it was quiet and pretty.
