It is pretty remote primitive ’hunt camp’ camping experience and sign stated you can stay up to 14days. Didn’t see designated sites, but ppl appeared to choose their own nicely. Big grassy field toward back can accommodate multiple vehicles (refer to pics). We would stay in a pinch if needed.

If you’re looking for free dry camping this is the place. It’s only 4 miles off the highway and easily accessible with my 36’ 5th wheel. There’s pit toilets and a water spigot available with lots of space for big rigs. It’s also really quiet here.

The vault toilets not too bad.
It can come off a little Friday 13th in the front with the hunting stuff but it's fine. I've never had a problem here and it's my 3rd time.
Plus u can't beat free

The road leading in is dirt/stone but very well maintained. There’s plenty of space for multiple big rigs throughout. The clearing all the way at the end is the biggest and most open spot for solar (near the bathroom).
We would definitely stay here again! It’s close to Georgetown and other great places to go kayaking and exploring. The nights are quiet with the sound of crickets.
And it’s free!
We had 2 bars 5G for T-Mobile and 1 or two weak 4LTE for Verizon. But with our booster, the Verizon signal was plenty fast enough for full time remote work.

Elmwood Recreation Area is a great little campground for a short stay. I had some work in the area and was looking for a location convenient to Georgetown and Myrtle Beach. It is very quiet and well away from main roads. There were only a few others at the campground leaving lots of space. I was in a tent, but there was a family in a schoolie, and anther person is a rooftop tent. Lots of space. By the end of October, the temperatures are reasonable both day and night, and most of the mosquitoes are gone. I’m looking forward to coming back with my Airstream in the future.

We spent the previous night at the Santee coastal reserve, another dispersed camping area whose turn in is directly across from the turn in to Elmwood. But over at the Santee preserve, we got eaten alive by deer flies! Unbelievable! Over here, no bugs! And two bars of Verizon depending on which site you picked.

What an incredible hunting camp! It's really peaceful. There is no designated site, we chose our site and moved to our liking.
We took advantage of our stay here to visit a historic site located 3km. Very interesting.
