You can tell that this campground is well used but we didn’t have garbage or anything at our site. It’s very quiet even though there’s about 4 other groups camping here. The camp sites are very spaced out and large.
Brooke.wandrs would stay here again

I have mixed emotions about Honey Hill. The location is great for hiking, visiting historical sites and checking out the local towns. At the campground, I believe I saw 8 large marked sites that were nicely spread apart on the outside of the loop. There were multiple spots that would accommodate my 25' TT, however all but one spot were occupied when I arrived. Luckily, I was able to fit easily in the available spot. Unfortunately, the campsite and fire pit were filled with glass and melted debris. I spent an hour cleaning up what I could. It was still a mess. I also believe that there were a handful of "long term campers" staying and noticed a good amount of misuse of the area. The danger being, one of the sites next to mine - that was clearly long term - started on fire while the occupant was away and the fire department had to be called. I didn't feel unsafe, but I didn't feel comfortable either. Sadly, the blatant misuse by the people staying there make it difficult to enjoy what could be a beautiful spot.

There's 8 marked sites nicely spaced on a loop. 4 sites were taken by tent campers, 1 site looked to be a 32-foot 5th wheel. The loop is right off state road 45. There is traffic on the main road but I didn't hear it from my site.

This was our first dispersed camping experience, and we were pleasantly surprised by the campground. Each site had a picnic table and a fire pit.
The surrounding trees didn’t allow for great solar, so we ran our generator daily.
The cell service was decent for Verizon, nonexistent for AT&T. The booster allowed for full signal with Verizon and slightly boosted AT&T.
It was reassuring to see rangers visit the park every other day, or so, because some of the neighbors were questionable (living on site?).
There wasn’t a tremendous amount of privacy, but the land felt peaceful and everyone on the campground was mostly quiet, keeping to themselves.
No water
Pit toilet
Great path for walking
Tip: Visit the Sewee Visitor Center closeby to see red wolves!

My husband and I traveled here because we prefer more primitive sites for free. We have a 32 ft travel trailer with a generator so we don't need hookups. There was no hookups or water here, but a dry bathroom. Sites were marked and all had concrete picnic tables. The sites were spacious and mostly flat. Would be questionable for a fifth wheel with overhanging trees, depends on the time of the year. Great people, they were all travelers, felt safe here.
Acarter would stay here again
