We stayed in Mesquite Loop #81 and loved it. It was very quiet and peaceful, even though every site was booked. Would definitely stay there again!

We stayed two nights and had a wonderful time. The "Texas" show which is showed every evening during the summer is a fun activity. There are many hikes in the park with excellent map instructions, lots of picnic areas.
First dump station on the way out is somewhat down sloping and therefore difficult to empty tanks, second one appeared more level.
We all enjoyed the wildlife viewing, hiking, relaxing. The scenery is beautiful!

Unfortunately that resulted in closure of all hiking trails, so me and the kids just walked around the campground. Climbed some hills and played in some valleys. Shower house clean, nothing fancy. We watched the Texas Outdoor Musical in the park, which was pretty good.

Relaxing spot.
Very clean.
Clean restrooms and showers.
Be sure to check the weather. All the trails were closed when we stayed due to recent rains.
If you have a large vehicle, the drive down in is going to be hard. Search YouTube to see the drive in.

We stayed here only 1 night as we were traveling cross country on I-40. The detour to this park is well worth it, due to the unique canyon and fantastic trail network. Unfortunately the day that we stayed there all the trails were closed due to the recent torrential rain storms. Likely they were closed for safety reasons, as the mud on the trails was very slippery, and it looked like some of the canyon sides were shedding large rocks. They have a really nice trail network here that we didn't get to experience. We stayed in the hackberry loop and had #22 which was nice. Some of the sites are not very level and are not really the best for parking an RV, so choose your site carefully. Bath/shower facilities were well maintained and there very hot water available in the showers.
