We stayed in an RV PARK 200yds from the State park entrance which was very plain. But we took notes for our next visit to stay in the canyon. We have a 36’ 5th wheel so our notes are tailor to our rig. Here you go: Mesquite area #85 pull through great #83

We have 42’ 5th wheel. We made it down just fine. I put truck in low gear and used exhaust brake. A truck with low trailer with equipment saw me and stopped so I could get past the hair pin turns. There have been 40’ class A with toad come down here. Big toy haulers. There is a reason you check out by a certain time and check in is few hour later besides camp host checking sites and cleaning.

It’s steep but manageable. The bigger worry was the two lane road and the tight switchbacks. If another camper was coming towards you, you’d definitely need to take turns. But if all clear, then there is plenty of room. It’s beautiful!!

As steep as you'll ever want to drive with a hairpin curve or two. IF you don't have trailer brakes dont try it unless its a very small trailer. You can augment braking with 4 wheel low but don't keep constant pressure on your brakes or you WILL heat them up to the point of not working.

It's about a 10 percent grade when you get to the portion of the road that descends to the canyon floor. There are a couple of tight turns along the way. I saw folks in large Class A RV's as well a 5th wheel travel trailers at the campground.

It’s a pretty steep drive. Definitely wouldn’t take the drive down if the weather wasn’t good. It’s a 2 line road so you have to drive very slow since it is also a curvy ride down. But it is a gorgeous state park and we are looking forward to going back. Hope that kinda helps.

Honestly, I don't remember. Just remember how awe struck we were at the beauty of the canyon driving in to the campground

Answered on 3/15/2021:

If I remember correctly, it was paved and not noticeably steep.

It's a bit steep, a couple winding corners and narrowish in places, but it's all paved so not really an issue. It's not a very long drive and the challenging bits are short. We did it in a 39 ft 5th wheel and there were plenty of large rigs there so go slow and use your exhaust brake if you have one - else use a low gear - and it's no problem

It's a 10 percent grade on the switchbacks.

Pretty steep, but plenty of RVs make it daily.
