Excellent place to camp in the Alamogordo area. About 15 minutes from town and 30 minutes to White Sands NP. Well laid out campground, spacious and reasonably level sites. Clean and functional bath house. Great hike into Dog Canyon. Friendly and very helpful staff.

Small but very quiet campground. Spaces are well spaced out and generally flat. Bathrooms are clean and the water is hot. Beautiful view of the Tularosa basin. Would definitely stay here anytime I’m in the area.

We stayed here on a quick overnight between Carlsbad and Albuquerque, so that we could visit White Sands NP (30 mins away) but now wish we were staying longer. Pretty little campground, beautiful views and gorgeous sunset. Our rig is 35’ and there were several spaces that would have accommodated us. We had site #32 (dry camp) which was a bit unlevel for how we wanted our rig placement to enjoy the views, so had to add a block. Some spots are back in others are pull outs and some have water & electric (30 amp). Would definitely stay here again if in the area. Also, White Sands NP is simply amazing to see just be sure to check the website the afternoon before you plan to visit for any road closures in the park due to missile testing from the nearby base.

Loved this place and wish every RV spot had such space and privacy. Sunset was gorgeous over the far mountains. The Dog Canyon hike is spectacular if you’re up for it.

This place has a top 5 campground view out of all of the 100+ we've stayed at. Excellent view of the mountains and desert landscape.
The access road in is paved and in good shape. The campground loop is easy to maneuver through. Note that all the sites seem to have varying layouts and shapes and some have shelters and some don't. Preview your site ahead of time on Google Streetview. Noise was minimal outside of occasional distant train horns.
Our site wasn't level and was off 5 inches side to side but had sufficient room for us.
Propane available at Cortez Gas in town. The Tractor Supply was unreliable.

Good spot with little to no competition worth considering. The price is very fair at $14.00. Hot showers and bathroom were standard for State campgrounds. We were in spot 3, which was rather loud with traffic coming and going until 1:00 am. We will return, but I’ll look for a spot at the bottom of the hill next time if it’s available.

We stayed here for a week and loved everything about it (besides the heat). The views are incredible of the mountains, sunset, and for stargazing. The campground had a power outage for a few hours one night, and we had a rattle snake on our campsite but those are the only 2 “bad” things about this place

The other reviews are all very good but the one thing they don’t tell you are about are the sites. In Loop A there are 6 sites FCFS with W/E and in Loop B there are 7 FCFS that are BD.
