Some spots are fairly level, but most will require that you raise the west side of your vehicle some. Starlink just flys here as there isn't a tree for miles. Can get VERY hot in mid July so have lots of solar and a good battery bank, or gas for your generator. Entrance is about 6 miles south of Wall SD. The west entrance to Badlands NP is about 2 miles further

Camping here for 2 nights and site-seeing in the National Park for 2 days was everything we’d hoped for. This is a gorgeous, windswept cliff on the margin between grasslands and badlands. We were stressed about finding a spot with a view, but there were plenty of options to choose from. (We kept right after the radio towers and stayed toward the southern end of the road.)
Saw bighorn sheep, bison, and of course cattle right by our site. Had a surprise storm blow through one afternoon that snapped my brother-in-law’s tent pole (he had a spare). Met other campers along the rim road who were going to or from interesting places and doing interesting things. We loved it all.
No hookups, but we arrived with a full water tank, charged batteries, and Starlink. No bathroom facilities, but the NPS provided at the visitor center and viewpoints. The road in was in bad shape, but we went slow and carefully without issue.
A few suggestions for others passing this way: Prioritize level spots over any specific view—wherever you park, you’ll be able to see the badlands from your site, but many pullouts are extremely uneven. Check out the spectacle at Wall Drug but skip the pricey and unpleasant cafeteria food. And don’t miss sunset from nearby Pinnacles Viewpoint in the park.

Boondocking views don't get much better than this. The southern access road is in rough shape with deep potholes so it's important to go slow. You can also come in on the access road farther north of you want a less crowded experience but the road is in similar condition. There were plenty of big rigs in here while we were here so it shouldn't be an issue.
Crowding was an issue later in the evening - some people are extremely inconsiderate and park 10 feet from your bumper when there's miles of room available. Most of these jerks leave after a day. Don't turn south at the fork in the access road and youre less likely to deal with these jerks.
TMobile speeds were reasonable with a roof mounted Pepwave antenna at around 15mbps down and 3-5 mbps up. ATT speeds were substantial at 70/28 though theyvaried. Starlink speeds were also very good at >150mbps down.
We didn't have issues with any trash at the site we picked. There was some noise from generators during the day but it was fairly minor.

We stayed recently over the Fourth of July weekend and surprisingly, there was not a lot of campers at all. We (total of 3 travel trailers) arrived around noon on Saturday and we managed to pick an area by each other with lots of room left. This has been our second time boondocking here and the experience is better each time. There was a nice breeze all day/evening long and the night sky was spectacular! There was a big storm that rolled in and the winds felt like we were going to tip over the edge any minute. Overall, best experience and we would do it again.
Notes:
1. Arrive before noon to secure a spot. Most campers will arrive late and leave early.
2. Fill up your fresh water tank at the campground in Wall before you come. Campground is “Spooky Hollow Campground” and about a 10 minute drive from Nomad View. Fill and dump cost $10 each. They have clean bathrooms and shower facilities too. I asked them how much they charge for non-campers and they said $8.00 per person to use shower.
3. Cattle does roam the area so be cautious when driving on the road to the edge.
4. Don’t park so close to the edge in case of a bad storm. The winds are pretty intense like most reviews say here.
5. Clean up your garbage and keep this place clean and free for everyone to enjoy! Leave it better than you found it.

This is exactly like others have described it: beautiful views, peaceful, windy, and worth it! If you use the GPS coordinates above, it will take you to the exact spot you turn off of the road. The entry road is the roughest section but if you go slow it is manageable. We saw all types of units traverse it just fine. When you get to the end of the entry road, you will need to decide between going left or right. Most people turned right, but the road doesn't go very far that way and it was the most congested area. If you go to the left, you will find lots of areas to park. The road goes along the rim for a very long ways. Most people would grab the first spot they could find, but the best views were a little further down the road. Don't be afraid to go left and go down a ways.

Found a beautiful spot in our 40ft class A until about 2am a 70mph wind and hail then rain storm hit us. Had to move our rig so it headed into wind. All in all it was a beautiful stay except for storm. People have mentioned rattlesnakes but luckily we didn’t see any. Just beware of wind

By the afternoon, the wind did pick up. I would not recommend putting your awning out...you will probably lose it. Lawn chairs too...not leave them to far from the trailer...they might disappear.
But the view...it was a fantastic spot and close to the freeway.
We would definitely come back
