We parked fairly close to the edge with our travel trailer and unhooked. Thee was a little wind in the afternoon but the wind picked up around 8:00pm and was reported to be 30mph+. About 9:00 we got into the truck I thought the trailer was going to tip over. The next night the wind was supposed to be be around 7/8 mph, it was until around 2:30 am. It was around 15 mph+. We decided that maybe we should move along. Beautiful spot don’t park close to the edge and you will be ok.

We got there around 10 and got a good spot, since most were moving on. Quiet, restful, spectacular! Winds were very high but unbearable.

We arrived late and wished we had gotten there sooner! The place had lots of campers, it was dark and we were tired, so we ended up picking a less than ideal spot, mainly due to it not being level at all. When we drove out in the morning we saw how much space there was, so perhaps we could have found a better option, but then again there were lots of people camped throughout so maybe not. The view is gorgeous and great to be right outside the park for morning entry.

Located 6mi from the Wall, SD exit, the area is located on your left. There are no amenities here so come prepared with water and groceries. Wall Drug is about 8mi away and a lot of fun to meander thru. The Park itself is .5mi away and with a large bison herd, big horn sheep, prairie dog towns everywhere - there is always something to see - especially the vistas and views that are unsurpassed!

38 foot class A did great! Gets a little windy, which blows the dust around. Be sure to put stuff away for the night/ early morning winds! Be respectful, turn of lights for star viewers and give space between camps. This is a huge area with plenty of camp spots!

Turn at the green gate, towards the cell towers. Pretty tough road with lots of huge holes and ruts. But totally worth it. Then park anywhere off the side of the road. It’s pretty windy, so be careful of awnings and/or lightweight chairs.
