We stayed in site 5. There are some stairs made of rocks and cement, but they're turned on their side and unfunctional. The fire ring cement is crumbling and the asphalt pad is Swiss cheese with potholes. The tent sites are not flat and are only big enough for maybe a 2-man tent. Pretty miserable experience. The campsite was pretty empty. With school starting people have left already. Only one other vehicle was there. More arrived after I did.
No shower; decent bathroom. Do not drink the water; it’s not treated. And if you can, get stall 12 or 13. It’s right by the bathrooms.

The best thing about this campground is the proximity to the hiking trails (Stewart Falls and Mt. Timpanogos) - just across the street. This is a VERY busy trailhead so it's nice to not have to fret with parking. That said, it's a very busy trailhead and there are lots of folks in and out and traffic. There's a camp up the road and their morning call to breakfast or whatever was very audible both days. We were also there during Pioneer Day weekend which is a big holiday in Utah apparently.
Otherwise this a small campground, sites are OK, forested and fairly level. Not big rig friendly and it was mostly tent campers. The drive up there is windy but really lovely, you drive right through Sundance. No hookups. No campfires when we were there (not surprising as the air was thick with forest fire smoke). Road noise was audible but not awful.
About an hour from downtown Salt Lake but all amenities are closer than that.

Drove all the way here and it was closed for the season, which wasn't clear from the park website. FYI!
Beautiful campground though, sure it's great in the summer.

Gorgeous mountains here. Amazing views and rugged wilderness. Stayed here in mid June and conditions were amazing. Really close to lots of trails and a great campsite host. There was a lot of avalanche damage in the area and as a result the water at the site wasn’t turned on. Evidently the main valve as the service facility was still buried under severe and snow. Temporary bathrooms were placed on site but no water. Either way it was a great spot. Though the site I took was right next to the alpine loop road so there was a bit of road noise.

Holiday weekend here in Utah, we were looking to escape 99 degree heat at home. Searching for something new, close to home and in the higher/cooler elevations, we decided to head toward Mt. Timpanogos or Timpooneke campgrounds. Timpooneke was full, so back tracked to the more developed Mt Timp campground. Asphalt slabs, tables and fire pits. Best of all flush toilets. Campground sits close to the road on a hairpin curve so you get traffic noise on both sides but not too busy. Close to hiking, lake and Timpanogos Cave National Monument. Also very popular Alpine Scenic Loop cycling climb. Narrow and steep, not recommended for large rigs.
