Friendly people, plenty of space, and pretty busy. Little crowded but was an easy spot to find during a busy weekend. If you want a more private campground, I’d check out the sites up top or some of the surrounding areas.

We had to go all the way to the base and park perpendicular to the road to even try to level out. This spot is large as it is parking for the toilets so being at the end we ended up with 3-5 neighbors each night of our stay. Quite packed! But we didn’t care, we were there for 2 nights and to explore Grand Teton and find the moose, which we did! In droves!
Convenient to the park and Jackson, respectful quiet neighbors in our lot and across the way. Horses in the field from Triangle X and lots of trail riding. The hardest part of the road is right at the beginning where the pavement goes to dirt. Take it slow, and based on the heavy traffic the sites up past the curve must of been full! Busy place

The worst part of the road is right in the beginning where it goes from pavement to dirt. Fun seeing the field of horses for Triangle X ranch and watching them trail ride.
Spot 3 is the first on the right with the vault toilet, we parked furthest from the toilet to try to find some level ground which left the rest of the parking open and we had 3-5 neighbors our two nights, not bad but quite crowded. Either way we were there for the animals and Grand Teton so we didn’t care.
This road is heavy on the traffic as well, we didn’t venture up past the vault toilets after reading other reviews but the amount of cars coming down made us assume it was packed up there anyways.

They have a bathroom at the lowers and smaller rigs will have a better chance for a good spot. Our rig is 40’ w’ 16’ trailer. We saw similar on the uppers, but for advanced drivers only with back up skills. Absolutely beautiful though!!

Stayed on the lowest level with our 39ft class A, did not even look to the upper sites since dozens of cars and smaller campers came from up there while we arrived, some of them incredibly fast as if in a hurry. Heard from the rangers that some try to burn foam cups and crushed cans together with other trash in their campfires and poop in the bushes 20 feet from the campsites, leaving also their paper behind. Thank you, hosts and volunteers, for keeping up with this kind of behavior, cleaning the vault toilet (lower level), collecting trash and checking fireplaces in the morning after everybody left. We enjoyed our stay with easy access to all attractions and beautiful places throughout the park. Btw complaining about some not-so-level spaces in a FREE campground seems a little demanding.

This site has a pretty incredible view and serves as a great jumping off point for Teton adventures. We arrived around 7:30pm and there was already a lot of other campers there. Part of this is probably because the road is still closed to the campsites further up the mountain (as of May 17).

The parking lot sites are very unlevel. The grade is about a 6 inch difference to level side to side. We ended up parking across sites to be level side to side and unlevel front to back.

Stayed here to visit Yellowstone NP, but is was quite a drive from this location. It took about two hours to get to Old Faithful due to speed limits and traffic. I would stay here again though because the view is gorgeous and it’s closer to amenities in Jackson. The road to get here is a dirt road that was quite bumpy with big ruts, but during our stay they graded the road and it was way better. Still bumpy, but no ruts. We pulled into the first big parking area on the left and found it to be the best spot if you back in. Since our door opened up to the field and not the parking lot. This area is very popular and so during the day there wasn’t a lot of people, but at night it was full (so come early!). The day before our last day (06/14) Yellowstone NP closed the whole park down and evacuated all visitors due to the damage in the park. So we did see a quite a few more people then normal as we were leaving. Just a note, when we arrived a ranger told us the upper area was a narrow road and they recommend those pulling trailers to stay at the lower area. There was also a sign about 30ft restrictions. I assume it was for the upper area since the lower could hold a few bigger rigs. Rangers do come by to check on things.

We pulled into the lower lot and stayed for one night. If I had known what was at the top I would have just gone on up. NO size restriction. Just can you do it. The next morning we drove up and checked it out. Easy peasy. we drove up the mountain and found so many very large open areas for camping, literally 30 or more campers or motor homes can stay up there no size limit in one area but there are many areas. Just can you get there. I say yes anyone can do it. I have a 29 foot MH and I saw people up there with 30 and 40 foot ones. Beautiful views close to Jackson Hole, Wy. 30 miles. So much to do in the area, rafting, hiking, taking the old road to the Tetons, the Snake river right there so fishing with a permit is allowed. The five day restriction bummed me out I would loved to have had the 14 day time limit. BUT the down side is people encroach on your space. move right in to your area and don't care if they are invading your space, so I suggest that you put chairs out park you car far enough away so people cannot encroach. BUT ENJOY IT. That is all they are trying to do. Go have fun. We didn't have great cell service but Verizon was the only one of ours that worked.

We arrived in our 24' Class C RV late (after 7pm) on a Saturday in late June. We made the less than stellar track up to the upper spots after the lower (1-6) were full. All were full too so we ended up back down with several others in the gravel parking lot. This was just fine for us as we were just staying for the night and left before 9am the following morning. We had a small fire in a pre-made makeshift pit. It was a good stay. Quiet and clean.
There was a Forestry Service presence with a camp host. They made some spot checks but otherwise let everyone be.
The best part: the views of the Grand Teton range and sunset. Amazing!
I would suggest, as others have, arriving early on the weekend. But the parking lot works just fine in a pinch too!

Came in at 2pm on a Wednesday to find the entire place full of people. Upper, lower, and every boondocking location in between. Avoid this place during the summer. We ended up 1.5 hours south.
