If you could give a view 6 stars on a 5-star scale, this would deserve it. The view of the Superstition Mountains was breathtaking. There is, we found, an enormous variety in the quality of sites here. Because of a lack of planning on our part, we stayed in three different sites - 122 (2 nights), 52 & 118 (1 night each). Some of them seemed quite private and afforded amazing views, some were only okay. The camp hosts were all very friendly, the sites were all well paved and flat enough to only need a single leveling pad under a wheel. The bathrooms aren't easily accessed from the upper loop, and the dump station was pretty crowded on Sunday morning. Still, it was a really wonderful place to stay for a long weekend. Access to hiking - including the trails in Tonto NF adjacent to Lost Dutchman - is excellent.

I don't often stay at state parks simply because there are usually way too many people. I found this campground to provide enough privacy and separation from other campers. The campground itself is immaculately kept, has modern facilities and all-around positive experience. Stayed at campsite number 4, it is a smaller campsite, just enough room for my tent. Would be fine for a smaller camper or trailer. Location has excellent access to trails in and around the Superstition Mountains, close enough to the city still had full cell reception. Definitely recommend!

The campground is very nice, sites are level and spaced ok. Restrooms clean. Staff was very friendly. The hike up Siphon Draw was nice we stopped part way and watched the people coming down...cell service was spotty for us.

We were in site 19 and had a large "yard" with an excellent view of the Superstition Mountains. The restrooms were clean and the private showers appeared to be clean though we did not use them. There is lots of wildlife in the park (we saw many cotton-tail rabbits and jack rabbits, lizards, quail, and a javelina) as well as cacti. There are some excellent hikes and trails, but the no-see-ums were horrible and unfortunately limited our outdoor activities. Groceries are available just 5 miles away in Apache Junction (and even more options are available in nearby Mesa).

This park was high on our list of “need to see Arizona State Parks.” Have you ever seen the photos used to illustrate the Superstition Mountains? Well we were parked right in that viewfinder's lane... awakening each morning to the spectacular views of that majestic rock face, in a position to see it, touch it and walk it's trails in real time.
Campsite pads were huge and could easily accommodate 40+ foot rigs. Each site was immaculately groomed by campground hosts each time a camper left, so it was perfect when we arrived. Bathroom and shower buildings were also very clean, considering the heavy use from hikers and visitors during the day.
Along with the miles and miles of trails that traverse through this Sonoran Desert landscape, trailheads were right within your own campground loop, we also had a diverse number of wild characters surrounding us...using our campsite as their own personal trailhead. There was not a morning that we did not see Javelina or Gambel's Quail walking through our campsite.
And although we did not locate the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine, we did find a bigger treasure, the Snow Super Moon. It bathed us and the Superstitions with some beautiful moon beams each evening.

The sites are a bit narrow for larger units but there is plenty of space between sites so you are not packed in right next to the rig next to you. Some sites have a big slope to overcome if you don't have an auto leveling system.
We enjoyed the hiking trails around the campground, the office had a few snacks and ice.
Nothing negative to report. However the rangers at the campgrounds are a bit picky... but not the end of the world. All worth the beautiful location. We will be back to this campground in the fall.
The Verizon coverage was good just using your phone but with an extender we have great service.

The only thing that would make this better is if there was more space between campsites. You can hear your neighbors talking at a low-medium level.

We had good cell service, the bathrooms were clean, and the site looked like it had been raked that day so it looked really clean too.
During the busy season it books up completely so we were glad we had booked the day before. Apache Junction is nearby and a good place to buy supplies on your way in.

We picked this campground to be closer to a friend who we planned to visit in Scottsdale, otherwise we would have been higher in the mountains. It saved us 12 miles of twisting & turning steep roads.
This campground was nicely laid out, with sites being separated with landscaping enough so that we could hardly see any others once we set up. We chose a site with no hookups, but there were water spigots around for the guests to use.
It's a pretty big place, so not our first choice when camping but we were very impressed with the friendly staff, the cleanliness of the grounds, the fact that they have recycle bins available, and honestly the BEST SHOWERS we've experienced since we began our adventure 5 months ago. Hot water - really really hot. More than we needed with high pressure, and lots of water (no water-saver feature). Also, for such a big place we were delighted to hear very little noise other than the road in the distance. We were somewhat shocked that there were no loud late-nighters, and no barking dogs. This, in our experience, is a rarity for such a large campground, and the reason we prefer the smaller campgrounds and boondocking.
We took advantage of enjoying hike right from the campground part way up the mountain and had beautiful views of the area. The trails here are busy with day use visitors, so you will not be alone. While easy to follow, be careful of the many small rocks that cover the trails. They are loose, and often move under your feet.
On our way out way out, we used a nice double dump station with a good hose with a working nozzle for clean up. Most campgrounds do a poor job of maintaining their dump areas, and hoses are typically short, leaky, or cut.
This would be a good campground for families as there is a hokey touristy old west ghost town thing across the street with train rides, zip line, a museum, gift shops, and restaurants.

We got lucky when we found this place. We started our morning drive with no reservations or campsites and figured we would Boondock once we arrived somewhere warm in Arizona. Which is difficult right now due to the winter storm. We just so happened to drive past the parks sign and thought we would try to see if they had a spot. The ladies at the front desk were nice and had 1 electric spot left for FCFS. $30. Park is VERY BUSY.Every dry camping and hook up spot is occupied and spots are kind of close together. Very dog friendly and lots of them. Trail right by our spot so lots of noise which is okay. We are just happy to have power and running water. Bathrooms are close and clean, trails look beautiful. It’s pouring rain today and about 40 degrees but would love to come back when it’s not as crowded and wet. You also do hear generators from time to time due to dry campers. (Don’t blame them)
