Tent camped there the second week of October 2024. Only 1 other family was there. Not a lot of truly flat spots for tents so bringing a shovel and getting the spots flat would probably be needed. Plenty of trails to hike around the area. Lots of different sites with rock fire rings. I didn’t even bother buying firewood cause there were so many dead fallen trees to burn. Ouray was just a short drive away for the hot springs, shopping, and resupply.

All the sites are within a mile of the highway (@ 10 just when you get into the woods) and I feel like you will always be able to hear the river/creek. You can even find spots that feel deep in the forest with tall trees. Our spot was near the main road which had a lot of OHVs passing by, but we were in the forest, it had a flat spot for our tent, a nice stone fire pit, and it was free.

We stayed right at the entrance due to it being 4th of July and every space being full. The road noise was present but not terrible. It got down to 35° at night. Listening to the water was blissful to fall asleep to. This is a wonderful spot, I bet even better if you can get into a back space.

We found a nice secluded spot for a tent for the weekend. Quiet spot, secluded, and close to the highway. Perfect place to camp if you're wanting to travel into Ouray.

Far enough from the highway we didn't hear much road noise. Great flat spot near a stream/river. Really enjoyed it. Did a morning mountain bike ride right from our spot.

Most RV were at the million dollar dispersed area. We had nice trees and the creek was close by. Convenient to Ophir. Lots of OHV traffic. Some loud partners, but may be expected for Labor day. Lots of traffic through the area, but during the week, I would expect much quieter. No water or toilet, but it was a nice pleasant stay.
