Isolated. Quiet. Unique rock formations. 3 mile dirt road to the campground is well maintained. Once inside the campground the first three sites are easily accessible and there is a pit toilet. Up the hill the two track is deeply rutted. We have a 30’ Class C and were able to make it up the hill and find a pull off that is big enough for 2 rigs if it was level. We had to get out the shovel and rake to level our rig.
About 4:00 in the afternoon the cows arrived and grazed for the next 2 hours. The yearling bulls put on quite a show for us! They weren’t leary at all about coming right up to the rig; horns and all.
The view was amazing. The night sky was spectacular.
Verizon reception vacillated between 2-4 bars LTE.

When we stayed here in late October we found a couple different waterfalls in the area with really nice flows from the recent rain. We loved all the rock scrambling and the wildlife. We had heard there are two packs of wild horses in the area and on our last day we got to see some of them! There's also free roaming cattle which unfortunately attract lots of flies, but other than that the bugs weren't bad.
Our first two nights we had crazy lightning and thunderstorms -- we caught some awesome lightning shots and it was pretty exhilarating. All the rain also meant lots of water flowing down the washes, which are everywhere around here, and even a fairly sizable stream crossing the road.
Our AT&T was pretty sluggish but we still managed to work.
Like others have said, there are about 3 sites suitable for big rigs (depending on how people park) just a bit to the right of picnic area. We did see a class A head a little further up the sandy road and stay at the bend in the road but there aren't going to be many great options for turning around if you need to, and you might want to scout it first as there are some areas of pretty soft sand. The road eventually ends at a private ranch. We did have some people firing guns the first night (far away from us but very loud) but thankfully they left, and there was a bit of trash/broken glass in the campsites. Other than that, we really enjoyed everything about our stay and had peaceful, starry evenings the rest of our time.

Watch the angle of your exit at the gate - easy in but caution exiting.

Larger class A's and longer trailers, would find this location a challenge to find parking and navigate road. Bowie, AZ is point of departure and this tiny town has no grocery stores. I used Wilcox, AZ Safeway and backtracked to Bowie and then to Indian Bread Rocks. I will return!

I arrived at Indian Bread Rocks May 16 and stayed five nights. The area is beautiful and the weather was in the 90's with clear skies day and night. The 3 mile unpaved road in was nicely graded but extremely dusty. The cattle guard at the entrance is 12 feet wide which should accommodate most everyone. The picnic area is very nice with several tables and grills in the shade along with adequate parking and a vault toilet.
I found the number of camp spots limited, even with a 12 foot trailer. If you don't want to camp on the side of the road the more private spots are sometimes difficult to access and on a slope.
I didn't see anyone else mention it but when I was there the bugs were real bad. All varieties but the worst were the small black ones that swarm the cattle. Maybe the high volume of cattle droppings atract the bugs.
There is a lot to do in the area so Indian Bread Rocks makes a good base camp for several days if you can handle the negative aspects mentioned.

My wife and I were on a month-long trip with our travel trailer to explore southern Arizona and up to Moab, UT to camp with one of our sons and his wife and stopped here our first night in Arizona. Indian Rocks is around 8-9 miles south of I-10 and Bowie, AZ. We arrived not long before sundown, so we were kind of in a hurry to find any spot and get set up for the night. As a result and because several other RVs were already set up, we did not get a real stellar campsite, but it was fine. The next morning I walked less than a quarter mile on up the dirt/gravel road and found two empty, absolutely awesome campsites. It figures. Ha Anyway, it was free and some really nice views out over the valley. It was quiet and the stars were pretty incredible that night (March 2018). We will definitely stop here again the next time we are passing through.
