A quite and peaceful boondocking location.
We camped past the picnic area on a side road with great views.
Access to the campsites is a washboard dirt road.
There are some sites suitable for big rigs past the picnic area but the further in you go the more difficult it may be to turn around.
The side roads offer smaller sites.
There are no designated trails in the area but open range cows create openings that you can use to hike the area. Be aware of thorns and cactus.
We didn’t use the pit toilet so we can’t comment on the condition.
We stayed March 8 to 11 in a Class B MH

Stayed for one night. Beautiful and quiet...just hang a right when you cross cattle guard going into park. Sites are all along on the left and then spread out even more as you go further back. Road was fine. Recently graded....

Spent a few days in early Oct 2017, occasional truck cam thru but no other rv'. Would do again in a heartbeat, parked right in the picnic area. verizon was sporadic.

This place is beautiful. Stopped on our way to Tucson. We made it in okay, driving slowly, with a 36’ Class A- totally glad we gave it a shot! There are only a couple of spots for bigger rigs so we were grateful it wasn’t too busy. Off leash dog hiking was the highlight. We also found some calcite on our hike.

After driving 3 miles on a washboard road to the entrance I was fortunate there were two spots open for a big rig. A little tight getting in, but doable. I would say theirs about 6 sites at the entrance, 3 big enough for big rigs. The road continues and several roads branch off that, but they are heavily rutted and would require a 4x4 with adequate clearance. Their are a few more sites continuing down the road which would accommodate a couple big rigs and a few that are under 20’, but their is one hump in the road that would be debatable to clear.

I would recommend 4 wheel drive if you intend on driving more than a 1/4 - 1/2 mile past the entrance. The dirt road was acceptable getting to the parking area. You can make out the I-10 off in the distance but you can't hear it. Nice and quiet location. I would certainly stay here again. Note: There were free range cattle in the area, so there were old cow patties about.

We arrived during the night and awoke to a beautiful view! We would have stayed longer if not for the AZ heat. There is not much shade or privacy here, but we had a nice spacious pull-through area. Great for those who like climbing rocks/hiking.

If you are familiar with the Chiricahua Mountain Range, you will see some similar features in the Indian Bread Rocks Recreation wilderness area...sculpted steep slopes of granite outcroppings, rugged, remote and scenic.
Based on the number of reviews, you would think that it's popularity would signal crowds and limited campsites at any given time. But in actuality, access is held in check due to the location and road conditions within the recreation area. Also, based on the expanse of the area, there are not that many established sites available, especially for larger rigs.
When we arrived mid week at Indian Bread Rocks, there was only 2 other campers. One parked in a camping area off the road before the day use area and one other in the day use.
In a pinch, the day use can probably fit 3 rigs, but you would be within earshot of each other. The one vault toilet at the day use needed some heavy TLC and the lone trash barrel was overflowing. Maintenance of the day use was not a priority.
We parked at the day use and used our toad to scout out a suitable campsite for two rigs, and found one about a half mile down the road. At the time we were there, the dirt road in was heavily rutted and we were prepared to use some "lumber" to get past some of the steep trenches. Our rig has a pretty low rear, but during our stay we noticed truck and trailers having no problem tackling the road.
The campsite we found was large with wonderful expansive views of the entire recreation area. Most sites we scouted out had fire pits built, were pretty free of trash and offered more than enough space for one rig. Most accessible sites were pull outs on side of road. We did not see that many level sites though. Even if all the available sites were taken, you would still have a pretty private area, as all sites are pretty dispersed.
There is plenty of scrambling and hiking to do or not do. Can be pretty peaceful just observing the stillness of the area. We did have two days of 50 mph gusts and some light rain and hail. Made our stay even more memorable. Nights are gorgeous! Passed a few head of free ranging cattle as we drove in, but once we got established, they never came close to our campsite.
As we knew this boondocking area was pretty isolated, we came pretty prepared so we did not have to leave for supplies.
