It is easy to miss the turn for Indian Bread Rocks from the I-10 Business Route (we did.. twice). Turn at the sign indicating the direction for Ft. Bowie. Keep your eyes peeled for the turn onto the dirt road named Happy Camp Canyon (it is marked with a street sign). The dirt road to the Indian Bread Rocks recreation area is decent. Watch out for meandering cows. Though there are maybe 3 or 4 sites along the road up to about a mile in, longer rigs will want to stay in one of the 2-4 spaces near the entrance (which is marked with a sign, picnic area and vault toilet). The number of spaces vary depending on the size of the vehicle and how close you’d like to be to your neighbor. Lots of cow pies and desert stickers at the spots near the entrance. Hiking trails and cow trails lead to good rock scrambling, native mortar holes, petroglyphs and some springs. Beautiful star gazing in this area.
Nearest dump station, water fill and propane is west on the 10 in Wilcox. The Magic Circle RV Park’s set-up was much preferred over that of the TA Travel Center. Reasonable fee at both, less of a hassle at the RV park. No potable water at the Travel Center.

It was fantastic! We had to use a shovel to dig down and level, but we managed to make it work. Beautiful views from on top of the rocks! We also liked scrambling on the large ones near the day use area.
We also visited nearby Fort Bowie which was an excellent day trip!

Accessing is a bit of a drive down a gravel road, so I would not recommend it for just an overnight stay. Once here, there are not many sites but people do seem to come and go pretty often.
Prepare and stock your foods ahead of time. There is no groceries within 30 miles (at Willcox)
If you factor out all the cow patties, the area is very clean. You will just have to accept that every step you take will be in one form of poop or another.

Considering this is infrequently-maintained BLM land, you should not expect much in terms of a smooth drive, a level campsite, or obviously any hookups. If you have a larger rig, you might have a hard time getting to the campsites a little farther away from the entrance - our 34-foot low-rider Airstream would not have made it over some of the humps in the road. A higher rig would probably be okay. You will probably also want to be comfortable with cow patties, as they are everywhere. When we arrived, we were greeted by about 20 cows thinking we had hay bales in the back of the trailer.
If you can handle all of that, you'll be rewarded with a beautiful rocky mountain side (which are easy enough to climb up and get a great view), super clear, silent, moonlit nights, plenty of sunshine for your solar setup and just enough cell signal to get done whatever you need to get done.

Indian Bread Rocks is our favorite spot so far this year. It's isolated and beautiful.
There are a limited number of campsites, and when we arrived everything toward the front was taken. Lucky for us, there were two spots farther down the road that were available for our small group that consisted of 2 trailers and a van.
Even though it was "crowded" when we got here, with the exception of the entrance, campsites are very far apart so there's a lot of privacy here.
The hike at nearby Fort Bowie is great.

We boondocked here for 12 days (limit is 14) and loved every day of it. Nestled against some amazing rock formations there are plenty of places to hike and climb. Happy Camp Road is a well-maintained dirt road that our 32 foot (gas) Class A had no trouble navigating. The entrance gate is a bit narrow but very manageable (just go slow). I would venture to say that a 40+ footer would easily fit here.
Larger rigs will probably find that camping near the vault toilet to be the best spot. It can accommodate a few rigs if you don't mind being close to each other. There are many dispersed campsites further down the dirt road but larger rigs may want to scout it out first to ensure you can get level and that the ground in firm and free of washed out areas. During our stay 2 fifth-wheels camped together in a large turnout about 1/4 mile from us. A popup trailer also came in and set up camp right in the picnic/parking area without trouble from the rangers.
Indian Bread Rocks is close to Fort Bowie National Historic Site (just a few miles down the road) and the nearest grocery store is in Willcox. You can get water, propane and a dump station in Bowie. This is a gem of a place with lots of bird watching and great views from the rocks. Rangers came through every couple of days and there were people who visited the picnic area a few times (but were not intrusive). There are cattle grazing here and we often saw them and/or cowboys on horseback moving the small herd. Very quite most of the time and a great place to stargaze.
