This park has a lot going for it: quite a good variety of sites for all kinds of camping from dedicated ‘sand boxes’ with tie-downs for tent campers, to large pull-through sites for big rigs. There are hook-ups to water and electric at most sites and a decent dump station accessible from both sides. I should add that when I used the dump station, the water line available for tank ‘flushing’ had a fitting on the end which had apparently been run over. (Probably the result of some inconsiderate twit who failed to hang up the hose after using it. ’Bummer!) The park has paved roads throughout, and there is a Toilet block with hot showers available ‘Free!’ At the park Visitor’s Center there is a good sized telescope, although we were disappointed to find that Star-gazing Nights happen only once a month, and that was not in our time-frame. Where the park could be improved would be the addition of more trash containers and/or dumpsters. There was only one dumpster for the whole camp when we were there, and for many that would require quite a walk, being as the camp is pretty spread out. The Visitor’s Center is not much to crow about, but it is a place you can stop by and get information about local sites and attractions. Chief for us were: going to visit the fantastic Arizona Meteor Crater which is about 1/2 an hour away off Interstate 40; checking out the magnificent La Posada Hotel in town which was built as an overnight stop for the Sante Fe Railroad in 1830 and restored to its former glory by a most interesting couple. (‘Google’ it and check out the wonderful art which is on display in the hotel, the creative output of Tina Mion, the wife of the architect who is responsible for the resurrection of the grand old Spanish style hotel. They live at the hotel and Tina has her studio there.). Across the road from La Posada is ‘The Brown Mug’ which is a gem of a place to drop in and get authentic Mexican food. Not a tourist joint, it is a fave cafe for the locals. Up the street to the east is the famed ‘Standin’ on a Corner...’ site memorialized by art, sculpture, trompe l’eil, and a genuine vintage ‘flatbed Ford’ truck parked by the curb. In case you are not getting my reference, it is to a line from a well known ‘Eagles’ song that sort of put the little town of Winslow on the map. The irony is that I have it on good authority that the incident being celebrated actually occurred on a street corner about 70 miles away in Flagstaff outside a venue called ‘Der Wienershnitzel.’ Reportedly, the songwriters had trouble with the rhyme, thus it came down as ‘Standin’ on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, such a fine sight to see....’ (The name of the song is ‘Take it Easy’). That particular corner of Winslow is VERY busy indeed with heaps of tourists stopping to take photos, myself included, having hitch-hiked along that very stretch of ‘Route 66’ myself in the wild and wooly years of my youth many decades ago! There are plenty of shops nearby that capitalize on that signal attraction and you will find plenty of memorabilia of Times Gone Past, if that is your bent. As mentioned by other Reviewers, there are also old Indian ruins to check out, which are worth a visit and not far from the Camp. There is also a nice trail between the Camp and the Visitor’s Center which gives you a good sense of the terrain and surrounding wildness of the place once you leave the campground behind. A word of Caution, however. The winds here can be brutal! We actually extended our stay for two days due to the extremely High Winds throughout the region with gusts near 50mph which had our rig ‘rockin’ & a-rollin’ on the leveling blocks all day and night. RVers who don’t take the hazard seriously that these winds pose and who decide to drive in these conditions are risking everything! We got word that a number of tractor-trailers had been toppled on the Interstate and the ranger informed us at the Visitor’s Center that at times the winds are so severe the authorities close the Interstate altogether, and that all rail traffic is stopped on the busy lines going through town. Be forewarned and do a good advance Weather analysis before commiting for either a visit or your departure.

This park is older but still in great shape. Lots of hot water in the individual showers and heaters for when it gets cold. The entry road could use some work but the sites are paved and flat. A great bargain.

We enjoyed our stay and touring the Homol’ovi ruins from the 14th century situated on the Little Colorado River. We were able to see a reconstructed keva in the midst of the ruins. The facilities were pleasant with four separate, private hot shower rooms ( separate from bathrooms) with heaters. At night heat was turned on in the bathrooms, too. The sites weren’t too close together. Homol’ovi I is only a mile from the campground if you’d like to get in a hike. Homol’ovi II ruins were about a 7 mile round trip from the campground. We paid $15 to dry camp but the ranger said the rates are about to increase to $18. We just needed an interesting site to stop on our way to Santa Fe. This was just fine.

While others have given the sites at this campground 5 stars, I’m afraid we have to downgrade it to 4; though the location is top-notch.
Pros:
* It’s very clean, the rangers are super-friendly and very knowledgeable.
* Hiking trails are great; the ruins are interesting (especially Homolovi II).
* Sites are spacious, great views, fabulous sky at night. There’s an occasional Star Night Party, which is well worth attending.
* Water pressure at the dump/fill station is good (a rarity).
* Verizon service is good to very good.
* Close to town, which has a great, super-clean laundromat (Sunshine) and some good restaurants.
Cons:
* Water isn’t turned on in the winter, so you pay for water/electric and only get electric. I understand this, but a lower rate would be nice.
* There is only one restroom, and if you’re in a site on the other side of the campground, there are no walkways through the center—it’s a trek around the circle (esp if you're, ahem, in a hurry). Also, only 2 stalls in the men’s room, and 3 in the women’s. If the place is full, it can be crowded. That being said, restrooms and showers are very clean and well-kept.
* Hookups in the pullthroughs are on the opposite side, unless you drive in the “wrong” way, in which case your door will open onto the street.
* Not a lot of privacy. Sure, there’s a lot of space between sites, but no trees or bushes to keep you from seeing into everyone’s campsite, all day long.
* AT&T service is non-existent, even with a booster.

Like Nike repeatedly reminds us, Just Do It. Maybe Nike should sponsor this park. Because really, you should 'Just Do It'.
As of 3/15/18 the park will increase rates to $25/30A sites and $30/50A sites. There are water hook-ups at each site, but no sewer. (There is a dump station.) Both pull-through and back in sites are available. Heads up - site 20 (a pull through is pretty un-level, but you could make it work if you're talented).
You can make reservations online, or show up and pick a site without a 'reserved' sign on it. If you partake in the latter, be ready to move if someone has the site reserved for the next night (you can check in with the visitor's center to see what's available and when - or go online and check your dates versus the reservation system map).
This park is beautiful, well laid out, and so quiet that you may need to start humming to yourself to keep insanity at bay. Apologies in advance if you end up humming that Eagles song with the words "Winslow Arizona" in it. The quiet of this park was surprising, in the best way possible, as Homolovi SP is easy access off I-40 - just a five minute detour.
We arrived in the off season (early March) without a reservation and were easily able to find a space to fit our length, was level, and that opened up to desert expanses. Electric (mostly 30A, some sites have 50A, others are non-electric) was on, but water is turned off until mid-March. There is a potable water available at the dump station, which is well laid out for even the biggest rigs.
We had no plan of how long we'd stay, but based on the quiet, the scenery, and the entertainment in the form of crows and jackrabbits, ended up hanging out for 9 nights.
Verizon is awesome here, AT&T is 'eh'.
There are some short hiking trails which lead to various ruins. The roads running through the park are quiet an safe to run/walk/bike on. The ruins are freaking sweet - you can still easily find and touch (but not take - don't take!) pottery shards left by the indigenous peoples who inhabited the area. So cool.

Large paved sites, each with picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Water at all sites, electric at most. No sewer, but there is a dump station. Clean restrooms and showers. The state park has ancestral Hopi village sites to explore, and in the fall there are ranger tours to a site not normally open to the public. Very educational visitor center. I would recommend this park whether you are just passing through or plan to stay a while and explore the Winslow area. Oh, and after spending several days in a National Park with next to no cell service, the four-bar 4G cell signal here was pure luxury.

Lots of space between most sites and wide open views. Easy access from I 40. All the roads in the small state park have expansion joints which make driving throughout the park very annoying. Nice camp host keeps the place well maintained.
Very quiet and dark at night.

As we drove to this campground, we had low expectations since it's essentially in the desert and it appears as though there is nothing around. We couldn't have been more off-base. First, the campground. It's clean, has pretty level paved sites most of which have water and electric, does not allow generators at any time, and when sitting at our site it seemed as we were all alone in the desert. People here were quiet and respectful, although many seem to stay for only a night.
The state park the campground is in has multiple Hopi ruins that you can walk to (no dog restrictions other than a leash and being sure to pick up for them, which is normal dog etiquette anyway). There is a visitor center with a small museum, as well. The Park has a very friendly and open feel.
What else is around here -- well, you are about 20 miles from Meteor Crater National Landmark, about 50 miles from Petrified Forest National Park and the Painted Desert, about 50 miles from Flagstaff and all it offers, and about 5 miles from Winslow, AZ, if you want to take it easy standing on the corner.
All in all, we loved it here. We had planned for a 2 night stay on a tour through parts of UT, NM, CO, and WY, but added an extra day and cut our next stay shorter because we liked it so much here. As an aside since it's not a requirement for us but nice when it happens, we had 5 bars of 4G service on Verizon, which meant we could give ourselves a nice working hotspot for Internet.

As you can see I made the reservation on Memorial Day weekend. We were so busy I didn’t review the confirmation email until the next week. The agent mistakingly made the reservation for May 27, 2018.
When I called to point this out, ( after the 27th passed), I was informed they wouldn’t make that type of mistake and it was my fault. Funny!!! When they made the reservation they put the wrong name on the reservation. Not even close to my name. They excused themselves for that mistake but not for the one that cost me $35.00.
As I said before BE VERY VERY CAREFUL MAKING RESERVATIONS!!!
