Loved this spot. We tried to get a spot in an RV park and couldn't get anything. That turned out to be a good thing. This was so much better! A little mushy getting in and a lot of the spots were very wet. Some patches of snow still on the ground. Access could be a problem in poor weather. If all the spots were taken this could be a crowded area. There are a lot of good places. The location is great. Half way between the Grand Canyon and Sedona. We visited both. I have read a reviews for this area that complain about trash. I'm happy to report that, that was not our experience. It was quite clean. We picked up a couple of pieces of trash. Always leave it better then you found it.

Spacious sites, smooth road leading off of 64, 2 miles from 40. Big rig friendly with open spaces and hard pack ground. Wish we could stay longer. So peaceful although you can hear expressway in the distance.

A few of the roads we saw to get to the actual sites are steep, There was no rain while we stayed. All the roads were dry, definitely do not need a 4 wheel drive. We had a 37 foot class A towing a Honda CRV. There was some road noise from the 64, but nothing that kept us awake. Areas that we explored around the campground was clean, did not see trash/glass/poop laying around. Would definitely stay here again. While we had 2-3 bars of Verizon LTE, often was not usable. Cell signal did better by changing it to 3G. Able to make/receive phone calls and text messages. Also, strong enough to stream videos on you tube.

Even if you found a secluded spot, I wouldn't expect it to stay that way. ATT boosted worked well. Be aware for those with pups, there are small cactus that are well camouflaged. And for humans and pets alike, crazy amounts of cowpies. I've camped on free range land before but these cows must be eating laxatives!

Read the previous reviews I thought it was going to be a great overnight stay. Boy was I mistaken.
When we drove in the mud road was full of potholes. The first site we came upon had a garbage bag tied to a tree which i assume they didnt use because there was garbage on the ground.
We drove further in and saw broken glass, 10x10 shelter frame, and other garbage. We must have arrived after a rain because every site we saw was mud. And 4x4ers must have had a fun time because there was plenty of ruts everywhere.
There were signs, pack it in pack it out, but I guess people forgot how to read. If it was clean and dry we would have stayed.

I stayed here from 6/10/19 to 6/20/19. Note for other Verizon users - even though i was able to get about 3 bars of LTE service here, 95% of the time I couldn't actually get any data. This was definitely one of my biggest problems with this area, since I work remotely. I saw that I had several bars of LTE and assumed I was good when I set up, but then when I tried to actually use it I could never get anything to work. Oddly it would seem to work briefly very early in the morning and very late at night. Fortunately Williams is just down the road and I found a great coffee shop there called Brewed Awakenings to work at during the day. They even let me bring my dog and work on their patio.
The site I chose was just off the main road, before you get to the large open meadow. I had a neighbor across the road from me, but otherwise this site was nice and fairly private.
Pros:
- Easy access to Williams which has most things you need. For everything else, Flagstaff is about 45 min away.
- Grand Canyon NP is only about an hour away, and Bearizona is just down the road.
- Tons of sites - you shouldn't have any trouble finding a spot here
- My site was very level
Cons:
- Very bad Verizon service
- Busy. There were a lot of people coming and going all the time, and at times i had some pretty noisy neighbors. You also pick up some noise from highway 64.
There is a Pilot station between Flagstaff and Williams where I was able to get water. I'd recommend bringing containers and a hose because I wasn't actually able to get my rig close enough to the hydrant to fill without blocking people in.

Absolutely beautiful! We took the I64 about a mile north from Williams, AZ and turned down a dirt road on the right, just after crossing a bridge. We took one of the first established sites we found in the trees just off the main road. There was a little noise from the highway but that was mostly drowned out by the wind blowing through the Pinion Pines. We drove around a bit after we set up the trailer and found plenty of established sites with fire rings farther up the road. The whole area is very nice and was not very populated when we were there in late April. There was some garbage from previous campers, and we did have to clean out our fire ring to make it usable. The road gets worse the farther you go from the main highway, we found some spots with fairly deep ruts, but nothing we wouldn't have taken our trailer on with a little caution.

The entrance is slightly up the road from Kaibab State Park which was closed for the winter. This was a great alternative for dry camping.

I was happy to have found a spot after driving all day. Lot's of folks out in the prairie area, but very quiet. Not sure if it was just the time of year, but the bees were really bad. Got stung once when one crawled up my pant's leg. Ouch! Would definitely recommend it. Camped here overnight 9/26/18.
