Spent a night here as one person in our group went back to Phx and we went west. At the small "intersection" we turned left and stayed in open area on right about 50 yards. We were w another rig, plenty of room. Getting a bit rutted up. A few others coming and going.

Now that we are full-timers, we have a lot more time to stay where we want, when we want. We spent our first week at the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park right in Williams. That will be the subject of another separate review. While in the Williams area, we did some boondocking research and personally inspected several locations found using Campendium. Of all of them, we consider this one the best for our needs which included remaining close to Williams.
As has been mentioned, Garland Prairie Rd. is unmarked. Leaving Williams on Highway 64 heading north, the turnoff is about 1/2 mile past the turnoff to Kaibab Lake. You continue on 64 and just after the highway dips crossing a bridge, you immediately turn right on a gravel road crossing a cattle guard. You will see the 14 day camping sign. Continue on the dirt road about a 1/4 mile. You will come to a 4-way intersection. Going straight or right will allow for spots in the forest. But if you turn left, the road will wind around to the right and take you out into the beautiful prairie, where there are nice spots with single large pine trees for shade and fire rings with large flat camping spaces sufficient for any size rig. The broader open area is ringed by forest and hills. Really a nice no-frills location. Very peaceful. Of course we were here in early April and had good weather. Winds can be an issue. But, unless forecasted, breezes will come and go. Skies were sunny with high clouds while we were there, with high temps between 60 and 70 degrees. You must be self-contained. No water, electric or dump. Just you and nature in a spectacular setting close to town and amenities. The camp is about 3 miles from downtown Williams, 30 miles from Flagstaff, and about 50 miles from the Grand Canyon. And it's free.
BTW, our personal info is outdated. We are driving a 37 foot 2000 Pace Arrow Vision pulling a Jeep Liberty. And we no longer live in Apple Valley. We're "on the road". Home is where we park it.

Looks like there are a number of potential sites as you drive back, but we stayed at the one indicated by the GPS coordinates here. There's a big tree and a fire pit that someone made out of lava rock. We did see one vehicle pass by when were were at this site, but other than that really quiet and remote. No problem to run a generator since no one else is around. It was REALLY REALLY windy the night we were there. Not sure if that's normal for the area but being in the middle of a big field it's not well protected from the elements. Best thing about this campsite is that it's free and pretty close to the freeway; perfect place to pull off and spend the night.

Wasnt very busy when we were here. No facilities at all except a fire pit. We stayed in the first open area without a problem. It is only 70 miles from Grand Canyon. The sites are big and shaded and VERY quiet. Abundance of wild life around. We got internet reception with our AT&T hotspot but no phone reception with T-Mobile

There are smaller spots almost immediately but there was a lot of trash. Follow the more level road to the left. Spots for bigger rigs appear and you enter the Prairie. There are also spots where the road meets to a T,If you turn right. The road got busier on the weekend and you can hear a light hum of traffic from highway 64. But it was free camping and we saw Pronghorn Antelope and had wide open spaces to play, hike and explore. Very close to Williams for exploring the historic town, shopping, restaurants. Great place!
Stayed here in a 33 foot-long Fifth Wheel (RV). Ontheroamagain would stay here again.
