We spent a lot of time on the water, it's wonderful for boating. We especially enjoyed going out onto north beach and looking for sand dollars. There were lots of shells to be found as well as sharks teeth.
The campground itself is quite large and the sites are nicely spaced out and beautiful with trees all around. If you bring a boat, you can choose a site that where it can be kept on the water, which is really nice.
The bathhouses and laundry facilities were all in good condition, clean and well kept.
The camp store is really small, but I bet they have something if you need it. :)

Site 22 was beautiful and right on the ocean.
The bathrooms were very clean and there were plenty of them.
The camp store was very well supplied and the people who worked there were so friendly.
We enjoyed a beautiful sunset every evening sitting on the beach.
We will definitely be back.

Very nice campsite. 5 minutes drive from one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida, North Beach. Sanitary facilities old, but clean. Several sites have a lot of sun and it is already very hot in April-May (32°C). Intimate sites.

The sites are level and have lots of trees and bushes on all sides for privacy. There are many bath houses (great showers, with laundry) throughout the 3 different sections of the campground. Sites 1-85 are for small rigs and tents, 86-164 are pet friendly, and 165 - 236 are for all types of units, many pull through sites for large unit.
The park is very big - we biked to the end - 5 miles. Endless beach for swimming and shelling. There is also a dog park and you can tour the Fort. There are restrooms everywhere (clean, up to date) and concessions on the beach.

The park itself is above 5 Star level! However, in all of my years and travels, I have never come across a reservation system that is so impossible. For county residents, there is a 7 month window; for non-county it as 6 months. I understand the logic in giving county residents an advantage in making reservations. After all; it is a county park.
Unlike most reservations systems, the open reservation window does not start on your first day of the entire stay - it has to be the last day of your stay! If you want to reserve a week or more, which will include a weekend no matter how you look at it, you have to try to grab a site on the first day of your stay, then repeat the process every day until you fill your week. BUT; a county resident can grab that site at any point in your intended week-long stay. You will get bumped! This explains why so many of us have to book multiple sites, move frequently, and have to leave the park between check-out and check-in. Adding to the frustration is the fact that the grid for open days does not show if a site is even partially available beyond the first day of your stay.
If you call them, they will tell you have to book one day at a time. The alternative is to wait and try to find a site that is open for your entire desired stay. That's almost impossible!
Additionally, if your site is in the Area 2 pet-friendly loop, you will be towing your blue-boy out of the park and along the busy beach road to get to the dump station. I have to wonder how often someone experiences some kind of failure trying to tow their blue-boy nearly 1/4 of a mile on the road while trying to avoid creating a traffic jam by going too slow!

This campground is very nice in its layout and the park itself was great! The nearby beaches were quite enjoyable and we did like the privacy the sites provide.
However we camped here in June the mosquitos were so bad that we had to end our stay early. Being from central FL I understand mosquitos but these were swarming. I am not sure if they just had some infestation but it was not tolerable for us and we had originally planned to stay 4 nights but ended it at 2.
While the bathhouses were nice, while taking a shower we were fighting the mosquitoes who seemed to have made a home in there.
I would totally come back in the winter, or some time when the mosquitos were not swarming.
We use a Peplink BR2 Max Duo and I was able to get great signal with both the T-mobile Sim and the ATT Sim, and had no issues with my Internet and streaming.

You can’t swim from the water sites, so you’re just paying for the view. I don’t think there were any bad spots because even the inner spots off the water were HUGE…as in an RV, a boat, and 2 vehicles fit in many of them. We saw a handful of raccoons, but nothing like we’d read about. Would definitely go back.

Beautiful grounds, sh*t people run it. The park itself has well kept grounds with beautiful camping spots. Sadly from the lady at the office to the grounds keepers all we got was redness. Everyone there seems to hate their job. Maybe because FL minimum wage is barely $8 and Florida is not a cheap place to live.
Also be aware that getting to this place will cost you $5-7 as there are 3 tolls and you have to pay to get into the park even if you are camping.
Price for camping that is being advertised is way lower than what you will actually pay. There is a 7% tourism tax and 5% sales tax. So all of a sudden $33 turn into $45.
Also the place seems to have unbelievably strict rules from no alcohol anywhere in the park to "curfew" that starts at 10pm. No generators are allowed at any time and trails in the park are shut down at dusk.

Accommodations were good and facilities were clean. However, the neighboring site had an unbelieveably loud A/C unit set up (ran louder than my generator does) and it ruined the ambiance of the evening. Dinner by the campfire and a relaxing night turned into a headache. Would rate more highly if noise complaints could be addressed more thoroughly by staff. In 25 years of camping we have never heard an A/C unit in this poor of condition... would pay to have it repaired.
