Question about Fort De Soto Park Campground

HappYIcampers asked on 4/3/2022

How are the mosquitoes at Fort De Soto in the summer?

Answer question

Answered on 4/3/2022:

Never really been there in the summer but have seen experienced Florida campers pulling out their fans to keep the bugs away in September. Also beware of ants entering your camper we had a bad infestation the last time we were there. On the other hand it's a beautiful park with great bicycling throughout

Plenty of mosquitoes- not much different than anywhere else in FL. Plus it will be hot and humid - so having some AC will be necessary.

We haven't had much problem with mosquitoes. I think they the sea breeze and salt water mostly keep them away. However, flies, ants, etc. can sometimes be a problem. And those raccoons.

Usually not bad yet they can be present. There are also noseeums sometimes. They spray for mosquitoes and it helps. If you on the water facing west you get a sea breeze every day it keeps the bugs off. Beautiful campground and beautiful beaches. There are several restaurants very close to the campground. You won’t be disappointed camping here.

We camped there in January and experienced a few bites from No-See-Ums, and having been all over Florida they are hard to avoid regardless of month. I would expect flying buggers to get worse with warmer/wetter weather.
